In Tennessee Men behind on Child Support cannot vote. If you are behind a certain amount in the US, you are denied a US Passport. You cannot leave the country. AFter all Slaves must stay on the plantation and cannot be let out, or they may not come back. A Judge in one state wants to put an electronic monitor on Men who are behind Child Support. Just like a Felon. There is at current time no provisions to suspend Penalties or payments for Men who are in Jail. A Military Father in Illinois had every penny of his Bank Account and all his money garnished who is in a Combat Brigade in Iraq.

He is in Combat Operations daily and every dime he has had, has been seized by the State of Illinois. What is puzzling is the money seized has not gotten to his Ex Wife, yet. This was reported on ABC News. Texas will not allow for DNA testing to determine of the Man given the child support award is the biological Father. A Man in Spring Texas is paying child Support on four kids. Three are the children of his Ex Wife's Lover. Yet he is paying their Child Support. They live with their Mother and her Lover their biological Father.

When such big risks are involved I think I'm well capable of abstaining from having children.

Debtor's prison. Which is against the law in the USA, however family courts don't follow the law. A big part of my beef with FC is that they just do what they want...the law they are supposed to follow are sometimes just a starting point. So for example if family law gets changed, the actual laws, well this won't be enough since FC has no checks and balance.

Paying $600 a month to support for children doesn't seem like much, and I would imagine that he probably could have paid it if he wanted to. This is not always the case, of course. As always, the article tells us nothing about what else might have happened in this case -- what reason or excuse the father may have for nonpayment, whether his custody rights were respected, etc.

Not only information is missing, WHY he did not pay - but I think, USD 600,- is NOT such a little sum to talk about it like a 'giveaway'.

How many hours do you have to work, any simple work in USA, to earn USD 600,- after paying your taxes?

Hmm 50 years to pay back child support??!!? From what I can gather...support ends if a man dies. But do they come after his estate if there is an arrearage?

Just do away with child support. I mean, really... Unless he is a deadbeat psycho who would hurt the kids and the mother and the government has to make him pay, I think most men would pay just to help their children, provided they get time with them.

The same goes if he gets the custody. And if one of the parties does things out of spite, have laws on that. This is beneficial for the children since it keeps both parents in their lives.
