911 Tells Mom 'Do What You Have To Do': Okla. Mom Sarah McKinley Kills Intruder Justin Martin
Now the article and comments generally don't bother me but I will pose the question of what would of happened if this was a man defending himself... Men are rarely seen as heroic for self defense unless a woman or family is what he is protecting while any "self-defense" from women is openly praised. Not only that but a man usually really isn't considered a hero unless he takes the bullet of knife (Ie injured) whereas if no harm is done he is less of a hero.
What grabbed me was the treatment and response of the story and how you never hear a male self defense story, and when you do the man is either injured, killed, or ridiculed...

Re: Self defense
Well done to that young woman.
He got what he deserved !!!!God kept His word and sent His Prophet in this day.
Judgement is coming, time is fast running out !!!
Do you know where you stand with God ?

Re: Self defense
I fully agree that he got what he deserved. I am posting this as a question of "How would the treatment and response have been different if it were a man defending himself from an intruder vs a woman?" It is about the hero, not the intruder...

Re: Self defense
I'm a bit torn on this... On one hand, yes burglars DO deserve what they get - but being shot 'the second he got in the door'? He didn't threaten her or the baby.. While he had a knife which obviously doesn't bode well - we don't know precisely what his intentions were, and we never will. We don't know for 100% certainty that he was even burgling the home nor that he certainly had the knife in question. It is remotely possible that this is a set-up.

Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."

Re: Self defense
While I highly doubt it is, they aren't questioning anything as they would if a man was in the "mothers shoes", and the treatment seems a bit too positive compared to what I see male "heroes" getting...

Re: Self defense
Yes, I agree, Nik.
In fact, we had a similar case in England.. and the shooter went to prison. However, Tony Martin, did have the country behind him and protesting on his behalf as we saw the injustice he was faced with.►My blog / Your Blog

Re: Self defense
I am sorry, but self defense does not make a hero. The treatment of men in presented case is mostly correct. It is the elevation of a woman protecting herself to that of a hero that is wrong. A hero is someone is selflessly sacrifices for the good of others. Courage is a common attribute to define a hero. It is not courageous to defend one's self. Its laudable to assume that some one would not defend one's self, but our society is so upside down that it scares me that if 911 had not given her permission to defend herself this would be painted as murder.

Re: Self defense
Just my tuppence worth, but if someone forces entry into your property then they forfeit any future claims to victim status or vulnerability, they should be dealt with swiftly and with as greater force as you can muster, if that results in an untimely demise then that's just their tough shit, all occupations have their risks.....

Re: Self defense
I'm all for self defense regardless if the perpetrator is male or female.
If you seek to hurt or steal from anybody male or female, you are asking for trouble.
Didn't someone post a page regarding self defense for men?

Re: Self defense
Would be very interesting to compare responses, had it been a female intruder, and a man defending his property and himself. I think we all know how very different such responses would be.

Re: Self defense
Reminds of a (Dutch) case where three men waited for a burgular to show up and before he had even done anything, beat him up so badly he ended up in a coma.
That kind of proactive vigilante behaviour is inacceptable as well. Whilst I certainly don't defend burgulars whom threaten people or are caught stealing, I still think that being in favour of just shooting or severely beating up is a moral degeneration.

Re: Self defense
Yes indeed, a good example is the incident that happened at McDonalds. Two female thugs tried to gang up on a black man and they both got their asses handed to them. The first ones to start screaming was the liberal media and the feminist apes. That man had every right to defend himself against the filth that tried to assault him!

Re: Self defense
What bothers me about this case is the fact that the woman felt the need to ask for permission to defend herself.

Re: Self defense
It's okay sometimes if a man kills another man. It's okay to kill men whether for legit reasons or not.
When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.
