Ripped Apart
Divorced dads, domestic violence, and the systemic bias against men in King County family court.
Jim's first indication that his life was about to be turned upside down came the night he got home from work and was approached by an off-duty sheriff's deputy.

"Are you Jim?" the deputy asked.
"I am," he replied.
The deputy then informed him that not only was he no longer welcome inside his own house, he wasn't allowed even to collect his things. The officer handed him a suitcase his wife had packed and a $3,000 check—also from his wife, who earned far more than he did.
"What are the grounds?" Jim asked.
"It's all in there," the deputy said, thrusting a sheaf of papers into his hand.
The papers informed him his wife was filing for divorce. Worse, she had requested, and been granted, a temporary protection order based on allegations of domestic violence. The order—issued at a hearing that took place without Jim—took effect immediately. It required him to vacate his house and refrain from "any contact whatsoever" with either his wife or his 3-year-old son.
excellent article!

Re: Ripped Apart
Well, this proves it. It takes one wild hair on a woman, and the man is homeless, denied, restricted, fined, jailed, prosecuted, ostracized, and demonized. At least the article is shedding some light on the subject.
I have a friend who built a beautiful log house with his wife, their dream home on 35 acres of prime, old growth forest. The land had been in this guys family since 1890. They tore down the old hunting shack on the property and built from there.
2 weeks after they had sold their old house and moved into their dream home, she filed for divorce and kicked him out of his dream.
He sued showing that the wife had been planning to take the house and property even before it was designed. One of her "friends" contacted Dale and the court case went from there. The "friend" of Dale's ex had a a bit of morality in her.
He won his court case and the subsequent appeal. His ex moved out, only after 2 court orders for eviction. Even then it took her father and brothers to drag her out of the log house. The Sheriff had a court order to arrest her if she didn't vacate.
She took a chain saw to every piece of furniture in the house. Dale's great-great grand fathers Mahogany roll top desk, the cedar lined cherrywood wardrobe built in 1795 in Boston. Every piece of custom furniture Dale had hand crafted over 5 years had the chainsaw taken to them.
She burned Dale's old and rare book collection in the fireplace including signed first editions by Ernest Hemmingway, smashed every single dish and breakable in the house.
According to Dale, even the Sheriff's deputy was shocked at the utter destruction Dale's ex had caused in the house. Dale said the deputy called in to his dispatch to see if he could arrest the woman on destruction of private property.
Dale's ex-father and law and ex-brothers in law stuffed his ex into a car and took off right after the carnage in the house has been seen by the deputy.
She wasn't arrested of course. Dale took videos and pictures of the carnage. I've seen them, it was just wanton destruction, the sheer amount of destruction must have taken days of effort.
He presented the videos and photo's to the court trying to get his ex-wife to pay up.
The judge (a female activist judge BTW) ordered Dale to pay 50% of the value of the house and it's contents to his ex-wife BEFORE his ex-wife had destroyed it all. Dale has been appealing the judges order for 4 years now. His legal fees past the value of the house, before his ex destroyed it all.
His ex faced no charges, no legal ramifications. Dale has been ordered to pay $3800/mo in alimony.
That is a perfect example of why I will never get married again. Everything Dale worked his ass off for 40 years was destroyed by his ex when she could not have it all.
I got a call from Dale last week. He just filed bankruptcy.
What happened to the house furnishings and Dale's old book collection wasn't "Hell hat no fury like a woman scorned", it was plain psychotic rage and the typical entitlement mindset of quite a few women. If they can't have it all, then nobody will have anything.
Pure avarice, pure malice. It's just a wife and a woman destroying what she cannot possess and control. Even with all that has happened to Dale, he still thinks he might get married again.

Re: Ripped Apart
I can't speak for Dale, but I met his ex wife. She had a temper and seemed a bit "off". I never trusted her. Some innate part of my being was being cautious. They raised 3 kids, 1 daughter and 2 sons, now adults.
Perhaps having her perfect plan to take it all crumble is what set her off. I don't know. Don't care either. Dale thinks she's now off her rocke big time, with some serious mental issues. But most of us divorced guys also think that as well.
Anyone who burns first edition books in spite is just plain sick. Especially rare autographed first editions.

Re: Ripped Apart
Good to know that it wasn't a male extremist. I mean, someone who is mildly male is fine, or even someone who is somewhat male-ish is alright, but extremely male? That's just asking for trouble. This was not some embittered male extremist, but a mainstream female lawyer who represents both women and men.
Aside from that, and the shock at a female who actually gives a shit about men, this article actually impressed me. You rarely ever read mainstream news that mentions how the system holds a bias against men.
