A proposition for workplace harrassment
I started noticing several drawbacks in Romania for women with sexual harassment laws. First of all, oversight within the workplace is minimal in this country because of a small amount of resources. Let's not talk just about Romania, but Eastern Europe as a whole.
While I believe that most accusations of sexual harassment are just calls for attention and false, I also do believe that some legitimate claims get placed in a dark cabinet somewhere in the back of an office and never put into question about its validity because of a lack of evidence to prove the said event.
A great proposition for global correctness would be the institution of an oversight committee within the largest companies of a given country and without the employee's knowledge. This oversight committee will survey the company in question's management and/or board with video cameras and phone tapping. Although this may seem like an invasion of privacy, it does not go to the extent of tapping into the management's personal lives. If this is done, I'm pretty sure we'll be surprised as hell to see how many women actually never get touched by their bosses yet accuse them of sexual harassment and the videos, of course, show no signs of her being harassed. It would really discourage false accusations and raise the amount of legit accusations that have action taken for.
I don't see why something like this isn't in place.

Re: A proposition for workplace harrassment
In the UK, we are leading the world in being most surveyed by video camera. It's probably no surprise, therefore, that some companies here do have quite a lot of internal video cameras and the trend seems likely to increase. However, I encourage you to stop thinking along the lines of "drawbacks for women" on this sort of issue. Even where women may be the most vulnerable, I believe that NO law, regulation or social pressure should be made that unnecessarily targets only one gender. Anything for the protection of one gender should be for the protection of both.

Re: A proposition for workplace harrassment
It is for the protection of both. Women get protection from sexual harassment because evidence would be more abundant. Men would get protection from the SWARMS of lying women. It works both ways.
