from what I've been reading the NUS is funded by the 'NUS Extra' card (£10), gives free cinema tickets and that sort of nonsense.

I wonder wether male university students would carry on funding the NUS if they knew the truth that they were being demonized as potential rapists and violent abusers, just because some man-hating woman could create a job for herself.

This just shows the sort of tripe that is taught to students . It's nothing new . I was at college in 1980/82 . We had "humane studies" that basically told us that all men were evil rapists and women were exploited .
I challenged the lecturer , and stated that a relative of mine had been abused by his wife , and had written death threats . He said he was sure that she didn't mean to threaten ,and was just crying for help . I told him that he had a writtten note , saying "I hate you , I am going to kill you and smash the car up " . He took it to the police and was told "nothing we can do , sir" .
The lecturer became agitated , and said "if I wasn't a pacifist , I would take you outside and give you a hiding !"

That's rather ironic that this lecturer was threatening violence because you were recalling 'facts' about a woman physically abusing a man. I would have said sod your pacifism, I don't take kindly to any form of threat, veiled or otherwise - we're going outside no matter what.

And they even call it 'Winning the argument against a men's officer.'
The only thing these folks won is the 'moron of the year award' if you ask me.
