Men disproportionately affected by nationwide layoffs

Some 1.1 million fewer men are working in the United States than there were a year ago, according to the Labor Department. By contrast, 12,000 more women are working.

The careers of Neal Boyle and Scott Hacker couldn't be more different. Boyle, whose education ended with high school, worked 20 years crushing rocks at the US Gypsum plant in Charlestown. Hacker, who holds an MBA, changed firms several times as he moved up the management ranks in New England's financial services industry.

But today they find themselves in the same place: laid off and looking for work. And together they represent the face of the current recession, one that is overwhelmingly male.

Men are losing jobs at far greater rates than women as the industries they dominate, such as manufacturing, construction, and investment services, are hardest hit by the downturn. Some 1.1 million fewer men are working in the United States than there were a year ago, according to the Labor Department. By contrast, 12,000 more women are working.

The comments on the original article are worth looking at.

Meanwhile, does anybody expect the sex discrimination industry to take the slightest interest in these depressing statistics?

Didn't think so. But just wait until women start getting laid off in numbers, and see the change in attitude.

Of course, I bet the first ones to scream will be the shit for brains politicians. They'll probably drive the entire country into bankruptcy trying to get those women back to work!!

the shit for brains's have already driven the country bankrupt if you have been keeping up with the news - Sub Prime Meltdown etc

and with the three stooges about to lead the Executive don't expect a remedy too soon and even it may be too late to save the hitherto way of life as things change at the crisis point and may reach a point of no return

and initially there is a lot of angst and hardship for common folk before things may stabilise - if they do

Question Re: Men disproportionately affected by nationwide layoffs

    Imagine this for a second.......

Where as before women could before afford to leave work and not return.
Imagine if the men of one country did this for a week or a month?

Who indeed would pay the welfare checks?

    OH NO!!!!

Precisely! I can see many men will get used to not working and realise it can be much more rewarding a lifestyle!

I think the USA has been severely financially wounded and this phase of the spiral down is where the tide rapidly recedes pending the return of the wave to change the financial landscape severely and for the worse - the party is over

The party was fucked up by the greed of banks and the spending pressures of women..

But, lets be honest, hasn't the last 20 plus years been one enormous self-indulgent wank?

That is certainly the impression I have got, just looking at how much money folk have thrown down the toilet, largely fuelled by the fools greatest folly, credit..

When folk get the hang on living within their means, and proper budgetting maybe there will be a more realistic way of life coming..

It is a well known fact of life that the slave-drivers often consider, especially when trying to motivate men, when one is idle for prolonged periods, one loses ones desire to get back on that hamster wheel..

Many men will be "dropping out", it may not be through choice, but it could well be something they adapt to well..

There seems little reason for men to work their bollocks off for anyway?

Seriously, what can men get from slavery that they really need?

And what avenues does freedom from the hamster wheel open up?

Well, mate they were paid money and didn't have it taken off them instead.
Women at the same time had to get out and work as hard as the men.
I'm not advocating slavery here, but any idea that gets women off their fat arses and makes them do an honest days work, is cool by me.

My father may not have been a smart man, but he taught me everything he knows! One thing is this "If you can sit at the table you can work!" Its a damn shame that most women have been brainwashed and diluted by the cancer of feminism.
I believe the nationwide layoffs greatly affect men!

However, you have to exemplify how such layoffs somehow affect women, or forever beat you're blood sodden head against a brick wall!

What's the betting that in a few years time women will say that their pay has gone down !

I dont know where you live, but in my cuntry 50% of what man earns is robbed off him immediately before he sees it by the state, which then diverts it to creating made up "work" for women that is as much use as durex in a monastrey..

I can find plenty of work for women, in my fucking house!!
