A key reason why boys lag behind in the classroom is revealed for the first time today – female teachers.
Ground-breaking research shows that boys lower their sights if they think their work is going to be marked by a woman because they believe their results will be worse.
It also shows their suspicions are correct – female teachers did, on average, award lower marks to boys than unidentified external examiners. Male teachers, by contrast, awarded them higher marks than external examiners.
The findings, published by the Centre for Economic Performance today, could have immense repercussions for boys because of the dearth of male teachers in the profession. Only 15 per cent of primary school staff are men.

We can't really judge how smart people are and how far they can go in life based on these marks. We're taught to place far too much value on how we're graded.

Boys are being failed at every institutional level. Where it gets difficult to comprehend on a moral level, is how a determined core of female teachers deliberately set out to spitefully undermine the aspirations of boys without recourse. It's a painful reality. We mustn't accept this being imposed upon a single boy for a single second.

A few decades ago when I was at high school, we had a female teacher who hated boys and made no secret of it. Back then we had a mild form of segregation in most classrooms with boys sitting in the left half and the girls on the right. But this misandrist cow had the girls seated in the front rows and the boys down the back.

She was a freak and even the girls disliked her, but nothing was ever done about her. Fast forward a few decades and her attitude has become entrenched in education, with boys marginalised. We were fortunate to have a good balance of male and female teachers, and in fact one of my best teachers was female. But today boys are at the mercy of a marxist feminist dominated profession.

Denying boys their right to an education free from discrimination is a scandal that will end in disaster.
