In the UK, there are apparently greater penalties for a mother who kills an unborn child over 24 weeks from conception than there are for her killing a child once born but under 12 months of age.

I guess women claim "post natal depression" and diminished responsibilty, or whatever.

And remember there are statistics called infant mortality rates of babies who die within the first year of birth (why only the first year?!). Many such deaths are under suspicious circumstances.

Canada sucks supreme when it comes to letting chicks off for offing their own kids on the premise of depression. I should know, I live here and have seen first hand on way too many occasions women getting the biggest pussy pass you will ever see.

Some women will kill babies because they know they'll get away with it. No big deal, it's just another part of feminism.

This makes my blood boil!!!

I have suffered from clinical depression my entire life. Been suicidal on more than one occasion. After I had my son, it was all I could do to get out of bed. No kidding, I went to the store with the family, and they had to put me in a wheelchair and push me around - I didn't have enough energy to walk. I had a terrible time bonding with my son. It shames me to say I really wanted nothing to do with him until he was six months of age. I have never known that depth of despair.

I didn't want to kill my child. I did want to walk him to the corner and give him away to the first taker.

But you know what? The entire time this was happening, there was a little voice in the back of my head telling me that if I followed through with it, I would never, ever forgive myself. The right thing to do was to go through the motions of taking care of him and seek medical attention for myself.

I didn't want to. I didn't feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel like it. But I did. And eventually, I fought my way back to functioning.

Do not presume to tell me that post-partum depression leading to murder is excusable in any way. It is not. It is not understandable in any way.

This makes me absolutely sick. Because you know what? That animal who killed her child can still breed.

Society says we are about protecting the children, but nothing could be further from the truth.

So a superior court judge in a relatively civilized jurisdiction is happy to extend the principles underlying legalized abortion in order to mitigate the killing of a legal person — that’s to say, someone who has managed to make it to the post-fetus stage. How long do those mitigating factors apply? I mean, “onerous demands”-wise, the first month of a newborn’s life is no picnic for the mother. How about six months in? The terrible twos?

Speaking of “onerous demands,” suppose you’re a “mother without support” who’s also got an elderly relative around with an “onerous” chronic condition also making inroads into your time?

And in what sense was Miss Effert a “mother without support”? She lived at home with her parents, who provided her with food and shelter. How smoothly the slick euphemisms — “accept and sympathize . . . onerous demands” — lubricate the slippery slope.

There is humanist ideology that states a baby is unable to bond with a mother till a month old because the baby is not actually a life until one month old. It's set there so they can take babies into care for the first month and kill those who are not healthy.

This interest group would be very strong in Canada and the judge may possibly be making sure it comes to fruition by her verdict. (part of feminism)

Talking of statistics, please be aware when looking at child murder statistics that those countries who support a mother killing her own child (usually called 'infanticide' and applicable in the first 12 months of a child's life) do not always include such deaths in their homicide statistics. So if you are ever looking into how many children are murdered by fathers and how many by mothers, you need to know if infanticide is included and, if not, make sure to look up the infanticide statistics as well and add those figures to the number of children murdered by mothers. While I'm mentioning statistics, some countries accept mothers abandoning new-borns as a non-crime, even if the baby is taken into the fields and left to die. In such countries, try getting the estimate of the numbers that includes, too but beware that at least one nation will consider it murder on the part of the father if the mother abandons the baby 'under duress from the husband' even if she could have given the child to be cared for by someone else - so you might need to deduct some 'murders' from the father statistics to account for that.
