Australian Company offers new moms double pay for returning to work

    Article here. Excerpt:
'One of Australia's largest companies is making it easier for new parents to juggle work and family: Starting this week, new moms who return to work at the Insurance Australia Group (IAG) will get double pay for their first six weeks back after maternity leave.
"Yes it's generous, but we're a business and it is about making sure we get quality people coming back to us," IAG chief executive Mike Wilkins told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Maybe the company is shooting itself in the ass!

The 14 weeks of paid time off after giving birth is one thing, but a $5,400 "Baby Bonus" per child is just insane.

We might as well give them a Nobel for having these kids. I wish I could get a double payment for being considered one of the best employees in the Front End dept. at work

Do they get quadruple pay, for twins? Here, I believe paternity-entitlement is two weeks' paid leave. And, as guys, maybe we should exploit this to our advantage, being as we can impregnate, more often than women can become pregnant. All it would take would be to impregnate a woman at least every two weeks, and you'd never have to work again.

Re: Australian Company offers new moms double pay for returning to work

    Maybe it's just me in my old age... Everytime I read an article like this, I pay particular attention to the language.... For example;

"'One of Australia's largest companies is making it easier for new parents to juggle work and family: Starting this week, new moms who return to work at the Insurance Australia Group (IAG) will get double pay for their first six weeks back after maternity leave.
"Yes it's generous, but we're a business and it is about making sure we get quality people coming back to us," IAG chief executive Mike Wilkins told the Sydney Morning Herald. "

Uhm... "People"? "Parents"? Yea... sure.... So men now get "maternity leave" in AU eh?

Also let's ignore the fact that many WOMEN that leave to have children for X amount of months NEVER comeback.... Or if they do return, it's for a modified work week, part time, or for a short period before then decide to play "suzie homemaker" fulltime instead.

And at what point do these mothers decide that they're not going to return? At the end of their allowed leave, suddenly, as feminists would probably claim? Or BEFORE it ends, without notifying their employers, thus not ending their free money, prematurely? Answers on a postcard.....

Also means more taxes and less time a parent has with their kids.

Unfortunately, many women are going to take the bait and be the State's slave even more.

I am witnessing this occur right now at work. A woman left taking full maternity leave. This was one of the most dedicated, influential & high-ranking staff members we had on our team. I christened her as 'Golden Globes' because she is stuck up the bosses arse-end that our boss never sees a shred of wrong this woman does. One of the guys who was in that position too (could do no wrong in the bosses eyes) was called 'golden balls' by several staff, so I see no harm in referring to this woman as 'golden globes'. I'm glad to report, other members of staff have also began referring to her as such.

Anyway, she left for maternity leave taking the fullest amount she could, though initially stating she'd only be gone a few months. No sooner was she back, than she fell ill, claiming broken ribs (from coughing, no less). That gave her more months away. She's only been back a few weeks and she's began pulling more sickies than you can shake a stick at.

She came back demanding 'flexible hours'. The boss agreed.
She said she wanted reduced hours. The boss agreed.
She said she wanted to work only Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. The boss didn't agree.
She said she would only do one sleep-over a month. The boss didn't agree.

So now, she's taking legal action against the company and our boss, well, to say she's upset is an understatement.

On one hand, she has to account that her employee is affecting the business... On the other, I'm quite happy to see the back of this staff member due to her horrible nature.

Wife : "I dreamt they were auctioning off dicks. The big ones went for ten dollars and the thick ones went for twenty dollars."
Husband : "How about the ones like mine?"
Wife : "Those they gave away."
Husband : "I had a dream too...I dreamt they were auctioning off pussy. The pretty ones went for a thousand dollars, and the little tight ones went for two thousand."
Wife : "And how much for the ones like mine?"
Husband : "That's where they held the auction."
