Would You Emigrate?
This thread is out of curiosity for people who are considering to emigrate. If you were presented with the choice to emigrate or stay in your current country of residence what would you choose? Also explain why.
Also please explain why you'd emigrate or keep living in your current country. Keep in mind all the factors of language barrier, different culture, customs, immigration process, long distance between family and friends, risks and other hassles that are involved.Last edited by Tyrael; 15th-November-2009 at 06:02 PM.

Re: Would You Emigrate?
I and my family consider moving to germany. I don't think it's a flawless place to live in, but personally I have really had it with the Netherlands to the point that anything outside this rathole is better.
Language and culture barriers are little problems for us, in the first place it is the Dutch culture that annoys us allot.

Re: Would You Emigrate?
What about the skinheads, neo-nazis in germany who still exist? I think majority are in east Germany. What about the (rising) unemployment or near bankruptcy of the German government. and would you really enjoy speaking, reading German most of the day or watch German media? The weather isn't much better, except maybe if you move to way south Germany.

Re: Would You Emigrate?
I want to move to either Germany, Japan, or Israel. I'm not Jewish, but Israel seems like a really neat country beyond the ongoing conflict. Germany would be a breath of fresh air away from North America, I seriously want to get away from the North American "prudish" attitude towards sex. Same goes for Japan, and they're more conservative! At least in Europe and Japan, my future children will have a better understanding of sex!

Re: Would You Emigrate?
I kind of emigrated already... moving from the UK to the Isle of Man which is independent from the UK, has its own government, flag, currency etc., and is not a member of the EU.
The grass is most definately greener here than it is in the UK!

Re: Would You Emigrate?
I'd like to move to Germany,Switzerland, or Austria just because I have roots there in that my family originally emigrated from those countries to the United States in the 1930's ( Half of my family is from Switzerland where the other half are from southern Germany and Austria.)
( The only non-German or Bavarian from my family that of which is entirely Germanic would be my father who was Scottish.)
I'd only move back to Europe if I had a sizable amount of resources or money where I could set myself up immediately upon my arrival over there. ( I'm a ametur with the German language but I'm trying to get better at speaking it in that I'm teaching myself where I also belong to a free German club locally where the members speak German all the time in my city.)
However at the moment I'm stuck in the United States and I'm unsure if I will emigrate out of this country even though I have thought about it quite a bit.
I'm working very hard to improve my situation in this country I woud hate to even think about moving to another country having to restart my life all over again. ( It would be alot of work.)
Beyond having ancestory in Europe I hate the United States because to me it is nothing but a decadent culture over here not to mention I find myself having no connection to it at all anymore it seems beyond taxes or the local bureaucracy fucking me in the ass.
The United States has become a bureaucratic oligarchical authoritarian state in my opinion and I'm not sure if I moved somewhere else if it would be all that much different but I wouldn't mind a different scene of view.Last edited by SavageFenrir; 15th-November-2009 at 07:21 PM.

Re: Would You Emigrate?
There's much conflict and strife in the middle-east, beside that you'd be living in a sort of semi-desert, which is not a very comfortable climate to live in.
Canada has a lot of living space and natural beauty.
If the more tolerant attitude towards sex is what attracts you, you might as well go there for vacation or Thailand.
Your kids will probably find out everything about sex via the internet anyway.

And your ancestors emigrated all the way to america for a reason.
That's one of the major downsides.
I think governments in the European Union are still larger than America with higher taxes, though citizens are more taken care of, assisted with like pension and healthcare. You could go to an other country as a tourist to see what it's like, but note as a tourist you will see the sunny side and not the normal life grind of going to work and such.
United States has more living space, bigger houses for less money, more landscape variation, two coastlines, practically little to no language or cultural barriers between the states. However downsides are: the screwed up feminist laws (some of which are in the EU too sadly) and big national debt of america, higher homicide rate, zero tolerance policy on criminals (largest prison population in the world) that you can be sued for crazy sums of money.Last edited by Tyrael; 15th-November-2009 at 08:31 PM.

Re: Would You Emigrate?
I've not given moving to another country any real consideration. I am happy here.
"Civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it- a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals."

Re: Would You Emigrate?
I did. I lived in England until I was thirty nine (and several other parts of the world for some 6 of those years) then left and emigrated to Australia.
I am glad I did. It is a much better climate !
But most social issues here follow from Britain and America, just several years behind.
I miss the villages of England and the countryside. It is very different here. I was never comfortable in English cities - too large and grubby and crowded - but found Melbourne to be a delight even though it is one of the biggest cities in the world (in area). It is a very modern city.
But I also miss the old buildings of England. The 2000 year old heritage. The Cathedrals and Castles, the thatched roofs, white swans (we have black ones here). Thank the Lord for Midsomer Murders and Inspector Morse.
The public attitudes here are much as you would find in Britain, but without the crowds.
Feminism is everywhere in the Anglosphere / 'West'.
Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum
Love the Sinner but not the Sin.
(St. Augustine)
“ For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. “
(and within ourselves)
(Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)
A Feminist is a human being who has lost her way and turned vicious.
If you meet one on the road as you Go your Own Way,
offer kindness but keep your sword drawn.

Except the Israelis don't let it get in the way of their fun time, and the IDF girls got their own Maxim shoot. Too bad the Canadian army can't lay claim to that! There's much conflict and strife in the middle-east, beside that you'd be living in a sort of semi-desert, which is not a very comfortable climate to live in.

I really wouldn't live in Thailand though, they got some corruption problems down there. They placed at 80 on the Corruption Perception Index, which is pretty fucking bad.If the more tolerant attitude towards sex is what attracts you, you might as well go there for vacation or Thailand.RIP "Lyle Stevik"

Re: Would You Emigrate?
lol@learning a better attitude towards sex in Europe. If you mean by that total whoredom, I guess. And it depends on which part of Europe.
Anyway, if Europe becomes less and less European, I have no reason to stay.
