Women hit hardest YET AGAIN: Women's Health Plan Cost Is Higher Than Men's

High-deductible health insurance plans favored by many employers often wind up being an unfair burden to women, a new study found, largely because women need many routine medical exams that quickly add up.

...

"High-deductible plans punish women for having breasts and uteruses and having babies," said Dr. Steffie Woolhandler, the study's lead author. "When an employer switches all his employees into a consumer-driven health plan, it's the same as giving all the women a $1,000 pay cut, on average, because women on average have $1,000 more in health costs than men."
The rest is here.

Damn, how often I hope I'm reading just a pathetic imitation of The Onion, but sadly find out that they're serious.

It seems like they only study something when it's potentially "unfair" for women, but not if it's for men. When will they start doing studies on things that are unfair for men? They should.

Equal results based on unequal treatment amounts to no kind of equality at all. ~

Of course their deductibles are higher the article stated that women go to the doctor far more often than men. If I drive my car more I have to buy more gallons of gasoline. Insurance is user based you are charged more based on the likleyhood that they will have to pay out. It's not sexist it's economics!:slap:
