Surrey woman survives domestic violence, forgives abuser

It’s been a long journey to quiet suburbia for Dhillon, this year’s recipient of the Courage to Come Back Award in the social adversity category.

It includes horrific abuse at the hands of her husband and ends with peace and serenity and a message of hope for others, an ending she said was possible for her by finally forgiving her abuser.

“It’s a hard story to listen to but it is a story that may save someone’s life,” said Dhillon.

She was 18 when she entered into an arranged marriage that’s customary in her Sikh-Hindu culture.

“Initially it started as a fairy tale in my mind,” she said.

She was soon instructed by her new mother-in-law to worship her husband as a god and she realized her husband drank excessively.

Then this little snippet from the above story;

They eventually divorced and her husband later died, his body found in the ocean near the spot he had taken her earlier. His jaw was broken but there was never an investigation. He was 39.

if domestic violence is portrayed as the crime of all crimes,then why is it that "people' are never mentioned as possible victim's?

Why only women?

Anyone,man,woman,child can be victim's of d.v..

Children are the primary abused in d.v.,yet it is only women who are worthy of mention,even above children.

The misandry you highlighted is par for course... Women commit wrongs but no one cares, especially if it's against a man.

Meanwhile, man's suspicious death doesn't even warrant an investigation.

There are Sadistic men who abuse their wives. Sadly the opposite, which happens at a similar frequency is never talked about... Many men have been abused through forced marriage (notice how often their mums run them with an iron fist) but that subject seems to be more taboo than beastility...

Speaking of which what is this suspicious death? This seems like half the story... I wonder how abusive she was? Oh wait I should never ask that...

My comment also had a + rating,now I see I have a - rating,typical.

I just want to post a part of a comment I received in private from a new mra and part of the reason's for him opening his eye's and the reason for my above comment.

The title is my addition.

Reality,from the eye's of a child.

Everyone's heard about how we, as a society must end violence against women. Sounds good; everybody likes women and we don't want them getting hurt, right? Thing is, women are not only murdered less frequently than men; women are murdered less frequently THAN CHILDREN. How can we possibly justify prioritizing the safety of women when they are ALREADY the safest demographic? How can we have these priorities and call it a fight for equality? I could see this as a child and I can still see today that even a fucking kid can figure this shit out.

I wonder how abusive she was? Oh wait I should never ask that...

My historical readings have led me to conclude, across all cultures, that if a woman offers up a half-assed emotionally-laden teary input - it's pretty much taken as gospel, void of any empirical investigation. This is a disturbing revelation for those who ascribe to the notion of 'the law of the land' and when I hear feminists squawking about a imaginary glass ceiling, I point to the viscous glass cellar when shit starts going down.

Talking generally.......Don't get me started about comments getting accepted by news moderation. I've previously composed some killer retorts, backed with data, only for it to not be posted, yet the politically correct trolls are having a field day all around me. Frustrating indeed!
