Thread: What are the characteristics of an ideal man?

Big thick wallet.

Women don't seem to care about much else.

Kindness, sense of humor, trustworthiness.

My friend Amfortas seems to be a good sort. Sound chap.

To be not ruled by fear, and so overcomes fears when faced with it in his path to following his interests. To not be a fox or weasel personality, and only resort to such actions when someone has drawn first blood. To be ruled more by the mind than the dick.

I think this is a start.

I'm not interested in how much money a man makes. What matters to me is passion, and not necessarily "sexual" passion, but passion that exists between two people who find the each other fascinating and life worth living to the fullest. I'm interested in connecting with a man more deeply than just physically. I want to be intrigued by his mind. I would love for him to see beyond my body, as well, and be as intrigued by the inner workings of my mind. I would love to share common interests, common values, common goals, with something more than common zeal. But I don't expect a man to create my happiness for me. I wouldn't want to change him. And I wouldn't expect him to be a carbon copy of me. As much as common interests and goals and values are important to me, so are the differences, which should not be invalidated nor quashed. They are the spice in a relationship, and they are what makes us individuals. Individuality, to me, is as important as the relationship. No one should have to change who they are or become so enmeshed with the other that they lose their own identities and freedom.

For me, because once again this will be very subjective, the ideal man is one who makes me laugh, likes animals and children, enjoys the outdoors, has similar spiritual beliefs, values integrity, honesty, kindness and charity, has determination and drive and who, most importantly, loves me.....a certain amount of understanding concerning my irrational fear of spiders is also helpful.

I've noticed that my ideal man has altered his qualifications through the years to mirror those of my husband.
