Just look at the comments:Goodbye, Mr Chips: Two out of three teachers are women as men shun the classroom
The commanding, and sometimes inspiring, old-fashioned school master is fading into history, figures revealed yesterday.
Fewer men are teaching in schools than at any time since records began and in one in ten primary schools there are no men on the staff at all.
More than two out of three teachers are now women, leading to fears that the kind of male role model embodied by the classic fictional creation Mr Chips has been lost to a generation of boys.
In secondary schools male numbers have dropped particularly sharply, adding to fears of a discipline crisis.
In the space of a generation, men have gone from taking a majority of jobs in secondaries to a dwindling minority.
They now make up 43 per cent of secondary teachers, down from 49 per cent in 1996 and 54 per cent in 1986.
The attractions of City salaries coupled with the threat of false
abuse allegations are thought to be behind the recruitment slump.
Experts say it is increasingly likely that a boy will go through his entire education without being taught by a man.
When such data began to be collected in 1986, 184,000 men worked in state primaries and secondaries and 21,000 in independent schools.
They made up 40 per cent of all teachers but latest data shows their presence in schools has fallen to 31 per cent.
In 2006, just 131,800 state school teachers were male and 23,500 independent.
Government teacher recruitment campaigns appear to have mainly benefited fee-paying schools, where salaries tend to be higher.
The staff sex imbalance is particularly stark in primaries, the figures from the Department for Children, Schools and Families show. Just 15 per cent of teachers are men, down from 20 per cent in 1986.
Academic opinion is divided over whether the sex of the teacher makes any difference to children's grades or behaviour. One study claimed male teachers can cause boys' education to suffer because they treat pupils of their own sex "more harshly".
But the Training and Development Agency for Schools, a quango, released a survey suggesting boys were more likely to disrupt lessons and neglect their work if taught by women.
Tory schools spokesman Michael Gove said: "Fewer male teachers means fewer male role models for boys who may not have one at home."
Development agency chief Graham Holley said: "Both male and female authority figures play an important role in the development of young people, and we want the teaching workforce to reflect the strengths of our diverse society.
"The number of men applying for primary school training courses is increasing but not quickly enough."
This woman is a fucking cunt. No doubt she is a bloody fembot. All part of the feminist-driven marginalisation of men.

Can you imagine if this was the other way around. We would have positive discrimination etc, etc,. As it's only affecting men then it doesn't matter. What the heck it's only about men.
- G.Parker, Auckland New Zealand
It just shows how successful the left/"liberal"/feminist campaign against male teachers has been.
- Martin, Newmarket, Suffolk
It's also probably because men react poorly to an environment where they are physically and mentally superior but have to be subserviant to persons who, by rights, should be subordinate. The situation in schools with the removal of the apparatus of discipline will not attract males, to whom discipline is an important feature of their lives.
- Mick B, Essex
I had half an interest in going into teaching abut 12 years ago. When I spoke to someone about it at my college I was made to feel like I must be a bit of a pervert or something. No wonder men like soon lose interest in teaching.
- John Webb, Worcester
I think we should be very concerned that men are not choosing to be teachers today. In the 1950s when I was at primary school we had many male teachers. They were excellent, they certainly controlled us. As a young teacher at a comprehensive school in north London in 1970 most of my colleagues were male. Now there are far too many female teachers. They are not nearly as effective especially the married ones who seem to treat it as a part time job. They have feminised the curriculum and made boys soft. Young men are crying out for discipline and order at school and all they seem to get is women who can't control them. I think lots of female teachers 'baby' boys and this is wrong. Although I am generally against positive discrimination, we need to get more men in the classroom, especially in primary school as soon as possible. If this means recruiting and paying more for older men who have been used to a higher salary, so be it.

Well who would want to run the risk of being falsely accused of almost any crime imaginable.

When women invade a profession it inevitably loses status. Most doctors in Russia are women and medicine is quite a low status profession. Look at how the C of E has collapsed! Women can't provide the leadership necessary to control boys' affiliation habits (gangs), therefore we have more badly behaved teens, and fewer boys regard education as a high status activity.

No surprise that there aren't many male scoolmarms - they are liable to be labelled 'pervs'.
Sadly in our society, men know they need to be very careful if they ever come anywhere near children.
- Roger, Brighton
Male teachers these days are too vulnerable to false accusations of sexual impropriety from female pupils and violent assault from males. It is not worth it any more. Male and female yobs run the schools these days.
- Mark, Chorley, UK
Many children don't have a father in their homes and they don't have a male teacher in their schools. When they do finally meet men they must find them very strange.
This is the result of socialist social engineering: a wrecked society. Is it any wonder that some other societies and faiths look at our society with contempt and disgust?
- Richard, Dinan, France
We are practically under feminist rule here in the UK, just look at Gordon Brown’s choice of cabinet ministers. Its no wonder men are shying away from professions where they are unfairly persecuted and thought of as rapists in waiting by the females around them.
- James Mills, Nottingham
This is a trend that seems to be everywhere.
When was the last time you heard a T.V report that was not "Spokes WOMAN" from XYZ, or when was the last time you went to a Government office and were dealt with by a man? Banks? Where are all the men?
- Ragnar Vagmornasson, Brandenburg Preußen
Yes when I was at school in the 40,s and 50,s it was roughly 50 50 respect for your teachers and law and order was paramount you broke the rules you took the punishment and learned from it. Now?

Get real! There is something very odd about a grown man who wants to hang around a school. Best left to women.

More and more people are on to the femcunts. Only a matter of time before they take their rightful place against other hate groups. Feminists make me sick.

Re: Two out of three teachers are women as men shun the classroom
the whole teaching profession is in a real mess. I teach part time, adults, occasionally sociology, but mostly languages, and they are almost all older than me. Yet everytime i work for a new college, i have to file a CRB check, to make sure i am not a criminal or whatever, or that im going to abuse my students (who are older than me!).
so its not just men it affect, it affects all teachers, all teachers are potential abusers now.
i think your wrong to assume that this only affects men. Perhaps the men are just smarter to get out of the situation first.
likewise with doctors. I know lots of women who wouldn't let the doctor inspect them body because it must be abuse! and yet, when they go on holiday, they're quite happy to display themselves on the beach for every tom dick and harry. Isn't that just the stupidest thing??
on the positive side though, i used to have classes filled predominantly with pensioners and women, however, now i tend to get lots of youngish middle aged men in my classes, and they can be alot of fun to teach. I wonder why that is?

And people used to blame school-shootings on Marilyn Manson... Thinking back on it, most of the best teachers I ever had... maybe all of them were men. I'm not that far out of high-school, and if I was put into a school full of female feminist teachers, I think I might go on a shooting rampage of my own.
A father is too valuable to waste.

What a disgusting comment...because we all know that a female teacher would never think of her students in a sexual manner.
"Every noble impulse, every unselfish expression of love; every brave suffering for the right; every surrender of self to something higher than self; every loyalty to an ideal; every unselfish devotion to principle; every helpfulness to humanity; every act of self-control; every fine courage of the soul, undefeated by pretense or policy, but by being, doing, and living of good for the very good’s sake—that is spirituality." -David O. McKay

Re: Two out of three teachers are women as men shun the classroom
And just how do you think this was brought about, FC?so its not just men it affect, it affects all teachers, all teachers are potential abusers now.
And did women think the hysterical accusations of 'might' and 'may' and 'possible', and 'can't be too careful', all with that 'knowing' look would not affect them, simply because they were the ones 'looking' with that suspicious, 'intuitive' 'knowing', at the men? Decent guys who like children and wanted to teach.
It is interesting that the article doesn't look at the career longevity of the teachers that are in the system. In Tasmania, 1 in 10 teachers are male. The women teachers' 'life' is just four years on average. The experience levels have fallen through the floor here.
The girls out of school get special programmes at Uni to become teachers but have no real career aspiration and no rationale to stay for long in the job. Men usually have wives and families to support so stay for the long term. Women rarely want to support a husband. The girls get a double dip, denying the boys the training places and then denying them jobs. Dog in the manger.
I could confidently lay a $100 bet that 90% of women would say the same. They 'intuitively' 'know', you see. There is something very odd about a grown man who wants to hang around a school. Best left to women.
