'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
If one reads this article:
http://thestudyofracialism.org/about838.html
No doubt they will find it appalling. It is truly wretched. It might be a little too much however to regard the women in question as being seriously dysfunctional in the sense that they are able to engage in these unusual behaviours and yet nevertheless their conduct falls within the bounds, roughly, of what might be called normality; I wonder however having read the article recently on this page about a female prison guard who had a relationship with a convicted serial rapist it came to my attention that perhaps these issues are connected? What is the general consensus regarding this, now, I wonder; is there a link or comparison between the behaviour outlined in the article above and that in this article:
http://articles.sfgate.com/2005-03-27/news/17365699_1_death-row-san-quentin-state-prison-laci-peterson
Are these phenomena related? Are the desires of a woman who wishes to marry a convicted serial killer simply the extreme end of the same compulsion which leads some women to date bad boys or thugs, or is this some other, unrelated dysfunction? I wonder. Still, I would like to know what others think, not just about that question, but regarding this subject in general; personal experience and so on.

Re: 'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
I loved and married a volatile, unpredictable, sometimes violent man, who eventually went to prison and there was diagnosed 'psychopathic personality'.
I was with him for 15 years.
Some did say I must have been crazy to endure the things that I did and I'm sure that I was- but it would take a psychiatrist to best analyze the whys and the hows.
I only have theories, but they're just that: theories.
I can't imagine wanting to be with a serial killer or a serial rapist- knowing this about them at the very beginning. But on the other hand, there were things I knew about my husband, too, before I married him and I chose to minimize or completely deny their significance.
What I find nearly impossible to imagine are the occasional crime stories one reads about regarding teams of husband/wife serial or spree killers. The dynamics of those relationships are clinically very interesting.

Some men are attracted to bad girls too. Don't forget that.
We are the product of several billion years of genetic development in which different attributes from different species get all mixed up. I think it has something to do with inherited moth genes.

Re: 'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
Well I believe women are attracted to "bad boys" because they enjoy being pissed off all the time, so being with a "bad boy" keeps their bad mood on the go at all times, resulting in pure happiness for the woman.
When it comes to men in prison, I think there are a few reasons, not being able to cheat, sex not being an important part of the relationship, he can't go out and meet someone else etc.
I know a woman who is into men in prison, she writes to them all the time, I've said all this to her and she said I might be onto something.
I put quotations when referring to "bad boys" because I personally don't count wannabe thugs, guys hanging on street corners, car-jackers, drug dealers etc. as bad, now Stalin, Pol Pot, and Hitler, they were bad, they knew what being bad was about, but these two-bit wankers who try to pass themselves off as bad? No chance, only women are thick enough to fall for their act.Hugh & Mary Discuss Feminist Related Issues (ALL SUBTITLED): http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...0081D259987DCD

Re: 'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
Most women I come across, to a greater or a lesser extent, seem to enjoy attention, and absolutely LAP up 'victimhood' status; Hell, look how greatly feminism has thrived. Women seem to love nothing more, than a good bitch with their female friends, as to how awful/useless/unfeeling their boyfriends are (making generalisations about ALL men, along the way, of course).
In a nutshell, women love "bad boys", as it gives them an excuse to moan incessantly, make sweeping generalisations about men, and to live their lives as they seem Hellbent on doing: in true soap opera-style fashion.
Fucked-up, but, courtesy of our old friend feminism, many women ARE."There are lies, damned lies, and there are feministic statistics". Myself
"Behind every bitch, is a FEMINIST who made her that way....". Myself

Re: 'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
I remember Jack Unterweger, serial killer of prostitutes, dual nationality USA/Austria.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Unterweger
Even a female Nobel Prize winner was asking for his early release after his first killings.
He got so much letters from girls, that he had to ask the prison administration for additional paper, envelopes and even for a typewriter.
After the trial he understood, his life will end finally in prison - no parole possible after 11 killings, he committed suicide.
Next day 100s of girls showed up in front of the prison, full in tears....
----------------------------
Another interesting information,
in Austria, the most famous serial killers were working as a group, 4 WOMEN, executing at least 49 old persons, but maybe up to 200 people, how many, we do not know.

Re: 'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
Well, I don't kow if there is a connection to the attraction to the bad boys and an attraction to the rapists and serial killers. Seems like on some level there may be.
As to the notion that women chase bad boys so they can be happily miserable..... that made me giggle. I can think of many ways to intentionally make myself unhappy, long term relationship with a loser isn't one of them.
I have a cousin who has always been attracted to the bad boy type. Her attraction involves her thinkin he has power and strength. She likes that he can operate seemingly outside the rules. ironically, she usually spends most of her time in those relationships trying to get him to fly right. Trying to change the very behavior she was attracted to in the first place.
I agree with percy that there can be some biological influences at play.
I mean heck, men who take the most risks can be the recipients of the most gain. That would be attractive to a female .
Although that hypothesis doesn't explain the attraction to a man who is in jail. That one I can't even pretend to have any insight on.

Re: 'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
Of course they are related. The difference between the women who want to marry mass murderers and serial rapists and average women is only one of degree. Are these phenomena related? Are the desires of a woman who wishes to marry a convicted serial killer simply the extreme end of the same compulsion which leads some women to date bad boys or thugs, or is this some other, unrelated dysfunction? The reality of the times is that men marry the state they live in. Re: 'Thug Passion,' Bad Boys & Serious Dysfunction
It really baffles me how some females can run with the dogs and shit on the nice guy!
Me personally I'm not a gentleman nor a bad boy and even I can see why some women flirt with the thugs. The nice guy tells her what she wants to hear while the bad boys shit on her if she runs her mouth. It's also true that some of women who hang around those bad boys are trolling harpies! Her mentality is "I point he destroys!" Then the next thing you know, she's alone and miserable because of her stupidity!

Some mistake fierce possessiveness and jealousy for signs of love and protection.
