I don't know why but if she is it is probably temporary. Permanent bannings are rare around here.

If she is hopefully it will give her and us some time to calm down.

Tera is a passionate person but sometimes she cannot seem to get past her emotions and see things around her. But that is just my opinion.

I logged in as an admin, trying to figure out what happened. Looks like she was banned by Marx for the reason of "questioning admin integrity." I did a search for her most recent posts, all of which seemed pretty benign to me. But this post might explain Marx's rationale. In it, Tera was talking about a post that she remembered with lots of misogyny in it, with pictures of commodes that were likened to women. I think Marx didn't remember the thread, because after Tera referred to it, Marx replied with, "Eh?" I surmise that Marx interpreted Tera's post as a blanket indictment against this site for promoting misogyny -- the kind of B.S. that the femmies love to toss out without substantiation (and when they can substantiate it, it usually turns out that the charge of misogyny is simply their way of saying that they disagree with your political views).

Anyway, I actually do remember such a thread. Here is the thread, and here's the Web site that the thread pointed to (the one that Tera seemed to be referencing).

She hasn't broken any rules. But she has upset some other people by befriending me, and that leads them to consider me as some sort of traitor or something to that effect.

I'm fed up of being told I am being 'controlled' when, imho, I am nothing close to that. Sharing a joke, a laugh, a dirty/rude comment here n there is just too much it seems.

This place is primarily a place for men. Women are welcomed here, but they must understand that occasionally they will get offended by some content. Do I care? Yes. About the same amount as I care that men get offended by angry words directed at them. Difference being, this is a unique place (in that women might be offended here) - offending men is fashionable and expected in most other places. So common is it, many men are simply tolerant and for all intents & purposes - they're immune to it.


I try very hard to keep things balanced. It seems I am not managing that task.

Everyone's integrity is valued by them. But we are all subject to questioning too.

If it was a misapprehension, and the last session on that subject - a misogynistic cartoon - was clearly indicative of our general disagreement of it, then surely Tera was within her rights to point it's misogyny out, shirley?

I see nothing wrong with you being friends with members. I personally value your friendship.

No.

I can attest that Karl is a man of high integrity.

He is also, it seems to me, under intense pressure to 'punish' Tera, simply because she asks the hard questions and poses some ideas that are well within the purview of this board to discuss.

Tera gets up some people's noses. So do I for that matter. So do many fine people here. But just as I do, and they have, she has shown great loyalty and contribution here and is a valued member.

Those who 'pressure' Karl and do not like him being friends with any particular member ought to understand what their pressure has produced. Intolerable stress and a very strange decision.

There are not many options that would satisfy others.

I have fought with TERA alot. I have never confronted Marx about his alleged friendship with TERA.

I want to fuckin' make that clear since all the secrecy just leaves people to point fingers. Since I fight with her so much, I don't want to see any fingers pointed my way.

Why don't we get some names since all we have now is suspicion?

Would have been better that this stayed between the mods and TERA alone. A simple "it's a private matter between TERA and the mods" would have been best but we are far beyond that now, aren't we?

I'll give an interpretation according to Kim.

Marx, I believe, feels that his integrity is being questioned because of his friendship with TERA. He believes members feel his decisions and his moderating of the board are influenced by this friendship.

Personally, Marx, I think it's counterproductive to ban TERA if she has not earned being banned, but that's not my call to make. Nobody knows better than you do your vision for this board, its intent or how it's meant to be run. Do what YOU think is in the best interest of the board because no matter how hard you try, you'll never be able to please everyone.
