They leave because you have retarded immigration laws. And if the government wouldn't be in the student loan business, schools would be forced to lower tuition and raise the number of students it has. If I do come there for a masters, I have absolutely no intention of staying if I will have to wait for 7 years to get a greencard and 15 years combined to become a citizen. That's almost as much as I lived on Earth until now and it will be time in which I will pay taxes without getting any of the services I pay for. So really, why would I be interested in staying?
So how do you subsidize the education of foreigners? They pay twice the tuition you pay, they can't get most of your scholarships and so on(if they stay though, they will pay tax money for those exact scholarships)... lol. Education should be private anyway.
If we are into protectionism, let's ban all imports and exports. That would be cool. And stop lending money to the US at all. That would be neat. All this stupid shit was proven to hurt more than do good.

Re: The Stupidity of US immigration laws
I agree. I think medical insurance is a scam too. Insurance, IMO, makes the cost of health care go up. If we all paid out of pocket, medical costs would have to be affordable. Hospitals can afford to charge exhorbitant fees as most people have insurance and contribute $$$$$ that they will never use "just in case" something happens. It's akin to gentlemanly extortion.
Well, if you came illegally, some states would let you get away with paying in-state tuition! So how do you subsidize the education of foreigners? They pay twice the tuition you pay, they can't get most of your scholarships and so on(if they stay though, they will pay tax money for those exact scholarships)... lol. Education should be private anyway.
Crime does pay!Yes, I wish foreign govt's would stop lending us $$$$$. The sooner every collapses, the sooner we can fix everything.

Re: The Stupidity of US immigration laws
AKUUS, I kept writing both on my blog and here on my single payer thread that the insurance business pushes prices to go up. And insurance is actually prepaid healthcare, since insurance covers a risk, not day to day things. Also, in a lot of states companies of a certain size have to get insurance by law, which makes a guaranteed pool of insured people.
And I abhor illegal immigration. I got bashed for saying that I'd put snipers on the southern border if I would be the US president and that I'd deport everyone and not give legal status to parents who just have a child born in the US, among other things. I'd also deport all the illegals, especially if they use healthcare without paying or commit crimes. Let alone pay their tuition. I find this despicable.

So young, so smart!!!
In my state, having health insurance is not required by law. You get fined in your taxes if you don't have any. The assumption is that if you don't and you get sick, others will have to pick up the tab. If the gubment is so worried about picking up the tab for uninsured, they should round up all the invaders, put parachutes on them, fly them over their countries, and shove them out!!! The could be the 101 Wetback Airborne Division!
Your ideas about illegals are 100% correct. Those who love the invaders don't care that illegals kill, on average, 25 Americans per day through outright murder and drunk driving. Do the math!!! That's thousands and thousands!"Rights for women and responsibilities for men is really license for women, slavery for men, and liberty for neither. " Dylan MacVillain

Re: The Stupidity of US immigration laws
I'm disgusted by the idea that if I would be a dictator in the US, I would do a way better job than all the Congressmen, Senators and President combined. And it isn't because I'm superhuman, it is because they're morons who don't give a ****(happy, Percy? :P) about people and their constituents. But again, if I'd be a dictator there, I'd try all the living Presidents of the US for high treason because they didn't obey their oath to protect the Constitution, so heh.

When I do this, and I know I will, it will be comparable to the lame learning to walk, the blind being enabled to see and the suffocated breathing again. The sky isn't the limit; there are no limits.

Re: The Stupidity of US immigration laws
look, border jumper enabling has a WHOLE LOT to do with the economic mess we are in
so does NAFTA
see, the problem is, that mexico is so fucked up, its not just julio the lettuce picker comin over here; pedro the carpenter, Jorge the 18 wheeler driver, antonio the bricklayer, and chico the landscaper have come over for greener pastures(and not to get extorted or killed by corrupt cops or drug cartels). and these people send their money to mexico instead of spending most of it here

Re: The Stupidity of US immigration laws
Actually no, this economic mess was created by the government through moral hazard and awful monetary policy. Cheap money lead to malinvestment, which was exacerbated by the flawed policies of the bureaucrats. This crisis is the payback for the Internet bubble. And it will just get worse with what Obama is doing and plans to do.

Re: The Stupidity of US immigration laws
no, the burden places on social services because of illegal immigration, combined with the amount of money not being spent in the US, plus outsourcing, PLUS the new waves of skilled and semi skilled illegal aliens coming over, has affected the economy in border states greatly
wage scales for food service, construction labor, light manufacturing and warehousing, and outdoor work have plummeted, in a large part because of the deluge of border jumpers
