Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but feminism IS in Japan.

It is just that the government is trying to avoid the same problems western countries have made. They have to be a part under the global trade agreements.

(I know this because the group I am a part of did a doco with/for them on the problems with single parents since NZ has the highest amount per capita in the world).

We told them what was happening to men. I have a copy of the doco but I don't know how to translate the language so I don't know what they are saying.

But I know they appreciated the honesty.

Japanese men also outnumber women big time. After WWI women were lucky to get a man because there was a serious man shortage because so many died in war. (Maybe that is what made them submissive)

In Japan there is not much you might call FEMINISM in US-style.

In Japanese laws there is no child-support, no alimony, no spousal rape.

Age of consent for boys and girls is low to avoid nonsense lawsuits regarding statutory rape.

Prostitution is OK, as long as it is away from public streets.

You might easily bring a foreign wife into Japan for marriage, and in case of divorce she can only claim anything, if the couple were married for a long time, over many years.

I am living in Japan since 1976, with my Japanese wife, and have 2 grown up daughters, and also a Filipina fostergirl. Nobody in our family and nobody of our relatives are feminists.

There is no obligatory military service without payment for men like in Europe, and men and women retire at the same age, and not like in my EU-country where women retire 5 to 10 years earlier than men.

Yes, correct, Japan and most other Asian countries do not accept Western feminism.

Despite heavy influence from the USA, South Korea still consider adultery to be a criminal offence. Philippines does not allow divorce as a Catholic stronghold. Thailand gives a cheated man the right to file lawsuits against the man, who was disturbing the marriage. Malaysia has a strong Muslim influence, and Cambodia has a strong Buddhist influence and all women have to respect a dress-code when going out in public.

Of course nowhere in Asia there is something like anti-spanking laws to protect children against punishment by their parents.

It will take a long time to change all these laws, even should governments agree with feminists, but most Asian governments consider feminist ideas as imported, disturbing their culture, interfering into traditional families and moral feelings.

I can only gain information other ways. I suppose marrying outside your own nationality is popular now a days.

I don't like the idea of a Japanese man marrying a non Japanese woman and I don't like the reverse either. Japan is such a great country/culture in part because of it's homogenity. If Japanese marry non Japanese on a mass level, it could weaken Japan and lead to Liberalism and Feminism.

Sounds great in Japan.
