With one single exception, all the emails were shoutbox issues. Not actual problems per se, but noticable strains...Thus, if the shoutbox does vanish - at least by seeing the above image, you'll hopefully understand it is with good cause that I do so.

The above was capped after a two-hour outing with my family. We went out, got some shopping & few tasks completed. I got back, checked the email and it threw those at me. It's a similar sight every morning that I check emails too... Yes, I could create a rule to instantly delete them, but for now, it serves to show members the type work that can go into running a forum and hence isn't all fun & games.

Its not supprising as it is accessed from every page so if someone reads 10 threads thats 10 accesses from one person who wasnt even reading it!

Perhaps it should show on the main page only and see if that helps?

Yes indeed, restoring it to a single page (such as the index/renamed antimisandry) page alone should decrease the rather high traffic to ... i'd guestimate something in the 5% to 10% range.
In fact, I may just go and do that!

I hadn't noticed, truth be. I realise this site (my host anyway) although offering unlimited bandwidth and allegedly on a backbone connection, doesn't always come through too fast, despite my 6mb connection.
Originally I had thought I'd got an 8mb connection, but reading the documentation closer revealed it was a 6mb, not 8mb. Either way, it's more than ample - I just witnessed a 6meg file download in roughly 10 seconds.. Yummy...
It doesn't surprise me any whatsoever that google ads were causing hold-ups throughout the Internet, I'm only surprised they didn't replace the ususal "advertise here" or "ads by gooooooooooooooogle" with a new "Your private information for your life." or is that "Your private information or your life."?
I'm really not sure whether Dick Turpin said 'for' or 'or'... but eitherway, it was still rather rude of him!

That happens to me at MiserableMen.net (same BB software), when I access it on Compuserve's browser. But, I can still see the shouts by clicking the word "Shoutbox" in the shoutbox title bar (it's a link to the shoutbox archive).

Karl, If the shoutbox is dragging you down too much, note that MiserableMen.net's is just accessible on their index pg. vs. every page of the forum. Maybe try that or see if you can cut it out of the thread pages. It probably doesn't have to be on every page.

Since you're a member of MM, you might visit and PM Pinchdice, MM's admin. Pinchdice might be able to give you some hints on the software.

Yeps, I've been looking into dropping it to just the index page. Originally it is designed to be only on the index page, but a quick edit on a couple of code's and it's on every page. I just gotta remember what I did and what it was supposed to be prior to my changing it LOL.

But yes, definately it shall return to index only. I was re-reading some of the information on it, and the author did state (though I must have skimmed through and missed it previously) that he will not be fixing the server-load issues as he's finished with and is hoping someone else can fix and post the fix for him.
