For the sake of good taste, I think it's best to wait until a kid is in the 10-12 year old age range before you start telling them about sex, gay or otherwise. Before that, it's just confusing. Still, as long as the curriculum isn't overtly pro-gay or pro-sexchange, it's not doing any harm to clue the kids in. They do live in this world, after all, so it's best to be informed about as many aspects of it as possible... including homersexual buttsex. It's a hell of a lot more natural than teaching them religious sexual repression, which may ultimately turn the shamed into boytouchers, a la Catholic priests. I just wish someone had clued me in before I got my first hardon. I thought it was going to explode, and I was scurrying around the bathroom looking for stuff to hit it with so it would go down. Best to tell the younguns: "At some point, your penis is going to grow and get hard. It is not going to explode. Don't hit it with anything." A little sexual education is a good thing as long as it's kept objective and without bias - gay, religious, or otherwise. There's way too much sexual repression in our culture.

If gays & lesbians are only 3% that would open the door to a lot of other minorities wouldn't it? What percentage of the population is celibate? Sir Loin do you really see sexual repression in our culture? And how is that defined? If you mean ignorance of healthy intimacy I might agree (isn't pornography one of the biggest sectors of the entertainment business?) If Christians believe that sexuality is not a proper topic for publicly funded education isn't that a legitimate stance? (assuming they do the teaching themselves in private or homeschools) Feminism = Fear + Flattery

Almost all sexual repression stems from religiosity. The whole idea that people should be legally married before having sex is absolutely absurd, but is at the core of many people's thought-control/belief systems. Of course, almost everyone is a hypocrite, so almost nobody actually follows through with abstinence (exception: people who can't get laid if they want to). The fact that abstinence is seen as virtuous and consentual sex is generally seen as impure is a clear sign that people are uncomfortable with sexuality. It's really not as big a deal as many folks seem to think it is. It's fine with me if people don't recognize and understand their own natural impulses and channel them in reasonable ways, but Christians in particular need to stop pushing their morals on people who don't buy into their superstitions and morals. These are the intellectual heirs to the people who persecuted Galileo, Bruno, and Copernicus for suggesting that *gasp* the earth is not flat, nor is it the center of the universe. Completely at odds with reality... Is it legitimate for Christians to determine that certain topics are not suitable for public education? No... It is not acceptable for Christians to determine that society as a whole cannot be informed about reality. That goes for sex ed just as much as it does for evolution. Once again, Christianity is at odds with Reality. If they keep it up, they'll find that they have all the credibility and moral authority of the Branch Davidians or Scientologists. Marching ever onward to cult status... Anyways... I need to go find a topic about rotten women and their double standards or something...
