Re: Schools to ban making best friends
As the psychologist said, "Whoever made this rule needs to find a friend." That's the trouble with schools and other gubment institutions. You get some of the most deranged individuals who push their troubles on everyone else.

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
This is exactly what it is outdoors.
Best friends are absolutely essential in life. Everyone needs at least 4 or 5 of them!
A best friend will tell you "yes, your bum really does look big in that dress, you fat arse!"..
A best friend will tell you that you stink like a skunk before you walk over to try and pull that woman..
And you wont take offence because you know you will do the same to him and its for your own good..
A best friend will even look after your girlfriend when you are away on business to make sure no dirty hounds come sniffing..
School is a brain washing institution and always has been, so it is not surprising that they don't like the idea of "best friends"..
I had "best friends" when I was at school. Sometimes it was very difficult to persuade them to give me all their sandwiches from their lunch boxes when I was hungry, but thanks to them, I grew big and strong. Strange how they did not!
Years later, after school days where over, I re-aquainted myself with several folks from school at the old boys club..
They all told me what an excellent character building experience it was having me for a best friend..
"One thing I learned at a good boys school, was that crying and whinging was not a good idea if you wanted to stand up to the bastards.. They would see that as a sign of weakness and take your lunch before the others who fought back.."
One area of life where having a best friend was essential to life, was proven historically in the POW camps in the east.
Huge death tolls from disease where common.
The only survivors where those who had a best friend, because they could help each other when they were too sick to get food or take care of themselves.
It was deemed essential to survival. A man can die very quickly from the shits when he is down to about 6 stone in weight if he is not looked after by his best chum.."Women...

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
Over protection is bad. Parents used to just stick on a band-aid and send the kids back out when the kid skinned their knee. Now it's a medical emergency if the kid gets a scratch. No wonder so many people "need" medical care now days. As the Marines say, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
In America, we like to be independent. The person who came up with this ban should not be pushing their childhood trauma onto me. I have my own; I don't need, or want, yours too. That's what psychiatrists are for.
Kids are human too. Their desire for a close companion can't be "switched off".
Ok, rant over.

Holy fucking shit. This is some real damned bullshit. A few of these kids need to tell their teachers to fuck off.

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
I guess, there is a possibility of this policy being brought in to try to deal with the problem of how girls play together..
It is famously bitchy and they are very cruel to "outsiders"..
A females idea of a best friend is "someone who can help me be nasty to people I like to be cruel to".."Women...

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
Does anyone need further evidence that the public school systems are being run by people that need to be fitted for a straight jacket?
This little experiment can only lead to disaster and pain for the kids. I wonder if the ban on best friends applies to both genders, or will it be applied to one specific gender with a myriad of excuses and double speak as justification?
The insanity continues to escalate. We have just broken the sound barrier as we hurtle to the abyss.

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
'Bans' and 'restrictions' imposed by unelected jobsworths, particularly within the public sector, have no lawfull grounding and must be opposed and contested for the sake of all.
It is a foreboding and depressing insight into the masses inadvertent capitulation to the way of things.
UK schooling regulations are more regulated by 'directives' of liberal quangos than what is set in the law of the land.
If we allow our children to be acclimatized to such overriding control, then they'll lose the ability of their forefathers to question, oppose and rebel against what is wrong.
I'd like to see legal contests made to strip away the idea that schools can just arbitrarily make biased decisions in contravention of common law!Last edited by Celtic Druid; 29th-March-2012 at 01:48 AM.

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
Is the ban gender specific?
It seems like the ban only applies to boys.
The ban is just another reason why political correctness needs to be done away with.
Greed is for amateurs.
Knowledge without wisdom is a load of books on the back of an ass.
Scorn and mockery towards men in need is one of the reasons feminism is dying as we speak!.

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
I'm so glad I'm not in school anymore. The sadist thugs get worse and worse every year. Soon it will be illegal just to be a human being and that's where the real fun begins.
I'm still close with some of my childhood friends and consider them part of my extended family. Kids need people their own age to talk to and grow with. Sure drama can happen but that is how kids learn how to deal with relationships and can learn who is their true friend.
Just one more reason not to bring kids into this world. No child deserves to live in these conditions.Last edited by haute macabre; 29th-March-2012 at 02:57 AM.

Re: Schools to ban making best friends
It seems that all the reports are based on a story in the Sun newspaper, hardly known for its quality of reporting:
Schools ban children making best friends | The Sun |News
In fairness to the school system, this is (fortunately) something that only a few schools seem to have picked up on.
To whatever extent it is happening, hopefully this latest form of child abuse will be quickly stopped.Russell Hobby, of the National Association of Head Teachers, confirmed some schools were adopting best-friend bans.
He said: "I don't think it is widespread but it is clearly happening. It seems bizarre.
On the other hand, it might be nothing at all. It wouldn't be the first time that the Sun has taken a tiny story and made it into a national campaign:
Encouraging group playing rather than small little cliques is not really the same things as "schools are banning best friends."psychologist Gaynor Sbuttoni said ... "I have noticed that teachers tell children they shouldn't have a best friend and that everyone should play together."
