A scarey short-film

pretty damn disturbing, if you ask me. The film hits hard, and depicts a mother who is willing to allow her child to 'accidently' fall out of a window so as she can escape from motherhood.
It seems to imply an answer to God may be awaiting her...

The few comments I read all seemed very forgiving of the mother, she's depressed etc. but on the other hand, it was reffered from a head-topic of "worst mothers".

Still, it's a difficult done film - and a pat on the back to the actress who undertook this contract.

Out of the gloom a voice spake unto me. 'Smile and be happy, Things could get worse."
So I smiled and was happy, and behold... Things did get worse.

Good find Karl

The advert was too tame if anything

Instead of turning a 'blind eye' there are countless 'mothers' who drown, terminate or set fire to their homes with their screaming children inside, all because they were 'depressed'

It's carefully hidden by Infanticide and Abortion mind you, and more often than not a man is on hand to blame somewhere or other

Some feminists never die, they just smell that way

Yes, Fred!
Well for a start there's the town planners who put up these unsafe buildings in the first place.
Then there's the Social Services who stuck the poor woman in one of these high-rise buildings instead of giving her a nice little house in the suburbs.
And she might be depressed because she's single-mother - you know, some yob "got" her pregnant.

Who else can we think of?

The traditional male weapons in the sex war are non-cooperation and flight. The traditional female weapon is celebration of paternity and male responsibility. If women now choose to define this as patriarchal oppression, they are throwing away their best trick. Feminism, in dismantling patriarchy, is simply reviving the underlying greater natural freedom of men. - Geoff Dench 1998 (edited)

Re: A scarey short-film

How would this scene have been different if the feminists hadn't aimed their hate guns at fatherhood and it was the norm to have a dad there to aid in the child rearing.

Re: A scarey short-film

This shows the reality of how feminism attempts to explain/justify every act of neglect or abuse by women as understandable. The woman and the audience are reminded by the TV that although basically comfortable that others are better off! Therefore the situation becomes explainable. Imagine if the TV had been showing images of starving people from the third world. It would have thrown a whole new light on this situation and the women would have been seen as selfish etc. Goebbels would have been proud of this one!

Re: A scarey short-film

Postpartum depression is a serious issue, and is a social problem. It is a side effect of so much isolation and lack of moral support for the modern family. Even if the depressed mother takes care of the child physically, s/he may not develop properly mentally because of the mother's depressed state.

That said, it is also a highly publicized issue. New mothers are given information and repeatedly warned about the effects of postpartum depression and told to call for help if they need to. If not then they should be. Being in a lousy mental state can impair a person's judgment and effect their behavior. However it cannot be used as an excuse for bad behavior.

It is often used as an excuse for bad behaviour while for men depression is not a valid excuse!
I notice that this film received some taxpayers money to make it. I am not aware of any similar films made to cover male depression or to explain the antisocial behaviour some men display as a result of it, despite men being four times as likely to commit suicide.

What if our little damsel in distress was forced out of her home to live in a bedsit, got to see her kid every other weekend, had large parts of her income payed to her ex husband who owns and occupies the family home which she pays for? Was treated like a criminal by the family court, was stripped of her rights to positive discrimination etc. Spent her spare time watching misogynistic TV and commercials. Knew that if she misbehaved she might end up either in jail or on the streets where she would find that 90% of her fellows would be of the same sex. She would know about depression and hard times then I think.

I disagree. Having had two sons from the same woman I can tell you PPD is no Myth. Da wife and I got along great, perfect til after the first child came along. Before this time we had never had an argument, during this time it was bitch, bitch, bitch, nag, nag, nag and bitch some more. I had never even heard of PPD. She started acting like a completely different women. I really thought this was my biggest farking nightmare, imagine thinking your wife is a good one and then she snaps, I was ready to throw in the towel, I gave her a child and she goes bazeerk. Her behaviour was completely stupid and she was angry about everything constantly and I had no idea why. Then I found out about PPD. She finally came back to earth a year or so later but after much damage was done to our relationship. Things were good for a long time afterwards as she begin to push me for a second child.

I didn't really want to settle down and the thought of another child
clashed with me. After years she begged and I said no. My life started changing and 9 years after the first one, I gave in and agreed to another child. Two years after this second child and enter the dragon once more.. She almost ruined everyones lives during this irrational period of her life and though she never tried to harm the kids she didn't do them any good nor us..
It was pure insanity. Things will never be the same after that time but she has been fairly sensible since that ended. I will add that my wife hasn't a feminist bone in her body and is fairly tough. But PPD did her in twice.

Thankfully her days of bearing children are over because I would never want to go through that again. PPD is REAL and it's like INSANITY. I would never want to deal with that again.

It's one good reason women should stay out of the workplace. My oldest sister had 7 children and had PPD after every child, a few times very serious. Fortunately I wasn't in spitting distance of her but the very first time for she was one that never needed an excuse to act like a idiot.

Thomas Jefferson once said "It takes time to persuade men to do even what is for their own good."

Feminuts are stupid, throw some common sense at them. They won't know what hit them.

I see ok then since you are a man who has walked the walk I'll take what you have said about PDD as the truth, it's just you hear about women who muder their husbands, children because of so called abuse or other so called mental health problems that I don't beileve in so called mental heath issues when it comes to women who comit crimes, to me a good protion of so called abuse excuses and deprestion excuses are just that excuses to get out of being punished for their crimes, the so called Pussy Pass.

Thanks for taking the time to set me stright on PDD

Re: A scarey short-film

A person explaining that they abused a child due to 'post partum depression' is right up there with a person attacking someone due to 'road rage'.

Using psuedo psychiatric psychobabble as a means to rationalise bad behaviour is a very modern trend that most reasonable people can't wait to see the back of.
