The return of Emma Peel ????
Man purposefully rides his bike down the middle of the road, to slow up those who are monitoring a foxhunt, causing a long line of traffic to build up, then, a jogger who looks like Emma Peel, steps in !!!

Emma Peel?
The avenger's.
Was probably my favourite show when I was young.

Re: The return of Emma Peel ????
I'm in love. She was brilliant, bold decisive and determined. We need women like that. The two women in the car at the front were irritating as fuck as they were content to be helpless victims and completely uninterested in offering this brave woman assistance.
Yes. I firmly believe Emma Peel should be a role model for young women. She's smart, polite, cerebral, strong willed, independent, responsible, honourable and proud.
Exactly like western women typically aren't.

Re: The return of Emma Peel ????
Now if that had been a woman riding a bicycle and a man came up behind and tried to push her off the bike, throw a couple of slap-hands and a kick...?

Re: The return of Emma Peel ????
I don't know that much about fox hunting and I'm not competent with the particular issues involved so I'll refrain from throwing in my uninformed opinion of that. However I will weight in on the assault. Yes, assault.
It does not matter if the biker was being a jerk or not, as far as I know he was not committing a crime or endangering lives. The use of physical violence against him is completely uncalled for. Attacking someone just because they are being a jerk is a crime. The police should investigate, hunt the woman down, and charge her with criminal assault.
Change the age of the man to a young boy. Say a 12 year old boy was doing this on his bike. Now how cool is Emma Peels? Again switch the sexes and it is your Emma Peels riding the bike and some old dude runs up and physically attacks her? Still rooting for the woman? I'm not.

The Highway Code for cyclists states:
68: You MUST NOT ride in a dangerous, careless or inconsiderate manner.
Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offence. You may be fined, given penalty points on your licence or be disqualified from driving.
In the most serious cases you may be sent to prison. Such rules are identified by the use of the words ‘MUST / MUST NOT’.

I might have been inclined to whack him with my walking stick or shove it in his spokes.
Dull bugger.
Emma Peel was the first of a line of lady thugettes. Not at all convincing as a fighter. Nor this lady with her flailing arms.
Now, Joanna Lumley in her fetching line of Janet Reager undies could distract even a committed gay activist. When in need of a drink to fill the soul

Re: The return of Emma Peel ????
Rob that is indeed the highway code, but the sanctions for those not abiding by it do not include assault. Slim odds, but you also have to give people the benefit of the doubt and the guy could have been deaf/senile (or pretend to be).
Both sides of the the foxhunting debate tend to be complete idiots almost all the time and most normal people are bored of the lot of them. It's a shame such people and our politicians can't dedicate time to the real issues of the day (e.g. the possible complete breakdown of much of society, primarily due to fatherlessness and gender feminism). The Rights of Man - A platform for raising issues about sexual discrimination against men in the UK:

He was in the wrong, but she was also too violent. Men have problems changing their mind; women have problems controlling their emotions.

Re: The return of Emma Peel ????
To be completely honest, in the same situation I would have dragged that man off the bike and thrown him to the ground.
I'm not convinced by arguments appealing to law or non-violence. Violence is an inescapable reality of life, it isn't a lack of violence that differentiates a civil society from a barbaric one but rather how the violence is used. Without the threat of violence the law is meaningless. So the invokes violence to assert itself.
The law is increasingly ridiculous and oppressive and people are frankly losing faith in it for these reasons. The law is meant to be a guide to seek justice, not a list of things that are unjust. For example it isn't illegal to lie, cheat or be an arse, because sometimes decent folk need to do these things, instead the law provides guidance to determined if the situation warranted such actions.
This was one situation that warranted a response, or do we want to all wait for big sister government to solve all of our petty problems for us?
But yes, if I did this, I'd probably get charged.

I think the point remains that while the woman felt safe in attacking the man, he was unable to defend himself. The was nothing brave in her actions.

Re: The return of Emma Peel ????
This man was not deaf or senile, he was doing his bit for the Hunt, fair enough to a degree, but what if he holds up other road users who have no interest in the Hunt.
What would you have done if you were being held up by this man ?
I know that I would of had to go to him and ask him to let me pass, hopefully he would of done the reasonable thing and got out of the way, if he refused to, then what would I of done ? Even I am not sure of what I may of done.

Re: The return of Emma Peel ????
But we don't even know that he 100% was intentionally holding them up from the fox-hunt observations or whatever the cars were. All we know is he is a bit of a moron and extremely ignorant. Nowhere in the road-book does it say that it's ok to leave you vehicle, chase a cyclist down and assault them. She acted outside the law by taking it into her own hands. In this modern day, I will safely put a bet that at least half of those in the following cars had mobile phones and the ability to ask for police assistance due to him breaking the road-rules.
As others have pointed out - not only was this assault, but she knew she could get away with it. What she did was blatant assault. Had that been a man doing it to a woman, we can well presume the police might already be involved and using the video as evidence.
