Researcher studying role of fathers after divorce

A P.E.I. researcher is looking for help in her study on the problems and issues faced by divorced or separated fathers.
Tasha Herrell is looking for P.E.I. fathers who have been separated or divorced for at least one year and are not living with their children. The fathers will play a role in Herrell's research for her masters thesis at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax.
"We'd like to understand more about why fathers remain involved or why they do not remain involved after divorce or separation," she said.
"This information will hopefully help inform parenting programs and education programs on the importance of fathers in general and particularly in divorce or separation cases, and for the fathers themselves to understand their role and importance in their children's lives."
Herrell is looking for at least 10 Island fathers to take part. Her research will be complete by May.
