Yanno, the stats seems to be growing of late, and I notice it's since a few wackjobs have departed (ok, been removed) from here. One of them seems rather incapable of getting through a sentence without referring to his penis of imaginary God-like proportions, insulting someone else's sexuality or sex life or just plain old gloating about how wonderful he is. Another would endlessly waffle and stir, never anything of actual discussion coming from her lips. Nonetheless, they're gone and the forum has been steadily plodding along at a nice rate without the inflamatory remarks and stupidity that had become almost normal to expect in the forum.

So, I'm just saying in a very round-about way, "Thanks" to the folks who keep this place running, for keeping sanity and allowing the site to expand beyond inuendos and smut. You folks really keep it alive!

Unique visitors (not including any bots) of 15393 made 28196 visits to the site reading 277559 pages which reads as 1779107 hits and used 8.8GB of bandwidth. That is for the month of February 2008.

I don't want to rain on your parade but 15000 unique visitors seems a bit high. Typically unique visitors are counted per day. So if I visit 3 times on Monday, that makes 1 unique visitor. If I visit 4 times on Tuesday, that makes another one. Since I visit every day of the month that makes 29 for February.

You'd get a more reliable figure if you'd divide 15393 by 29, which would make 530.

But seriously, on the first of March we had 944 unique visitors. On the 2nd AM saw 705, 3rd saw 837, and so on... add them up and we have seen over 4,000 uniques already this month.

The actual number per month is probably higher than 530, but certainly not 15000.

Well, my point is, Marx, that you can't add them up. Because they are probably only unique for the day. At least that's how my web stats work.

The same person may be counted multiple times as an unique visitor depending on the date range. The date range determines how far the stat looks back to see if there has been a prior visit. Typically the stat only looks at the present day, not the present month.

Edit: If I visit every day of the year, and the date range for determining unique visits is one day, then I will count for 365 unique visitors per year. If the date range is one month, I will be counted for twelve. If the date range is one year, I will be counted for one. See how the date range can bloat the unique visitor stats?

Sorry to say but bola is correct, the unique visitor count does reset daily for almost all hosting servers but that means over those 6 days you averaged 821 visitors per day which still is a very nice number, I'm also guessing that about 20% of your visitors check the site at work then at home, which would mean that about 10% of your hit count is from the same people checking the site from 2 different locations and thus 2 different IP addresses.

But still, you are getting a good amount of traffic. I know how exciting it can be to see your hit counter rise but you still need to account for repeated visits by the same person from different IPs as well as the unique counter reset every 24 hours.

Sorry to be the bearer of more bad news, but hey, you are getting a pretty steady flow of traffic, which is better than many sites do.

I know why you don't have more people accessing the site from firefox, For some reason it's unstable on firefox, I tried using firefox to access this site originally because firefox is my main browser, but it kept freezing the browser so I use IE to visit here. Maybe a few people have luck accessing this site on firefox but, I tried using firefox to get here on 3 different computers and each time it froze the browser.
