Paris Hilton released after five days in jail

Paris Hilton will not be allowed out of her house for parties

Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton has been released from jail after serving just three full days of her sentence.

But the 26-year-old will be kept under house arrest and must wear an electronic tag for another 40 days.

The decision was made as a result of a medical problem, but officials refused to give details of the condition.

When Hilton was originally sentenced to 45 days for violating probation on a drink-driving conviction, she was told there was no prospect of early release.

But the sentence was later cut in half after being given credit for good behaviour.

Hilton has now been "reassigned" to house arrest 20 days before her revised jail term was due to end.

'Privacy reasons'

Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said: "After extensive consultation with medical personnel, it was decided this reassignment should be done."

The Simple Life star would be "confined to her home", must wear an ankle bracelet and would not be allowed out for parties or social functions, he told reporters.

No details of the medical problem could be given for "privacy reasons", he said, but insisted she had received no special treatment.

US reporters at the press conference questioned the move, however, asking if authorities had "cut her a break" and whether the heiress had feigned illness because she did not like life inside.

Hilton's full sentence - including the house arrest - has now reverted to the original 45 days.

Mr Whitmore said she had officially served five days in jail - including late on Sunday night and the early hours of Thursday morning - meaning 40 days of house arrest will complete the sentence.
Read the rest here.

This is another case of Pussy Pass and due to celebrity status. She's so stupid. Without her unearned wealth she would probably be in a trailerpark.

Well she's part of the celebrity freak show, sadly it seems to sell...

Why are women addicted to soap opera? Are they really so unhappy, even in the land of milk and honey?

Oh, let me guess, this "medical problem" was very green in colour?

Paris Hilton ordered to return to court
By JOHN ROGERS, Associated Press Writer Fri Jun 8, 6:02 AM ET

LOS ANGELES - Rarely has it been the simple life for Paris Hilton these days. The hotel heiress was headed for a courtroom showdown Friday that could put her back behind bars, as prosecutors sought to hold sheriff's officials in contempt for releasing her early from jail.

Hilton was ordered to report to court at 9 a.m. and will be brought in a sheriff's vehicle from her Hollywood Hills home, said Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini.

The frenzy began early Thursday when sheriff's officials released Hilton because of an undisclosed medical condition and sent her home under house arrest. She had been in jail for three days.

Hilton was fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and was expected to finish her 45-day sentence for a reckless driving probation violation at her four-bedroom, three-bath home.

The decision by Sheriff Lee Baca to move Hilton chafed prosecutors and Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer, who spelled out during sentencing that Hilton was not allowed to serve house detention.

Late Thursday, Sauer issued the order for Hilton to return to court after the city attorney filed a petition demanding that Hilton be returned to jail and to show cause why Baca shouldn't be held in contempt of court.

Re: Paris Hilton released after five days in jail

Normally I don't bother with celebrity gossip, but this made me literally laugh out loud:

Quote:
LOS ANGELES - Screaming and crying, Paris Hilton was escorted out of a courtroom and back to jail Friday after a judge ruled that she must serve out her entire 45-day sentence behind bars rather than in her Hollywood Hills home.“It’s not right!” shouted the weeping Hilton, who violated her parole in a reckless driving case. “Mom!” she called out to her mother in the audience.

Re: Paris Hilton released after five days in jail

So she is now back in jail then?

I think she should not in in jail, I think a community sentance would be more appropriate..

She is a cute looking woman, she aught to do some charity work stripping for the sex starved inmates of a gentlemans jail, lets face it, she is not normally shy of flashing her crack..

Re: Paris Hilton released after five days in jail

I really dont like all the glee about watching some poor defenseless fish being made to suffer, just because she has a few greens in the bank and she is being forced to endure the same, nah, multiplied, humiliations that the state imposes upon the ordinary folk..

End of the day, why should anyone have to endure prison for defying the state?

There are better ways of getting the result..

While we all sit round and laugh, its really not funny, other than that we like to see the rich get treated like dirt..

But the point is, there are so many more alternatives..

Especially with a woman with her money..

Take her car off her..

Take her money off her..

Its like public executions, appease the plebs, but at the end of the day, what did she do to get prison?

Drove with a bit of alcohol over the limit?

Make the punishment fit the crime..

Its not good..

Re: Paris Hilton released after five days in jail

Americans are in love with the whole culture of celebrity.

They love building them up ... the superstar celebs ... (name your own favs) -

also, they love watching them being torn down, disgraced, embarassed, going into the third rehab, etc.

This is the modern version of Rome's "bread and circuses" for the masses.

At least no lions are being sacrificed....

The political import of these sideshows has not changed in 2000 years.

Keep them (the unwashed masses) distracted.

Guaranteed that 4000% more Americans are following the Paris Hilton soap opera than are following the Iraq war, the '08 presidential debates, Darfur genocide, or Fidel Castro's miraculous recovery from near-death.

Any blonde anorexic twit with mental health issues will grab the ratings over any political issue.

It's called "democracy."

Let the sheeple decide what they're interested in, yes?
