in the meanwhile I will tell you about the book and some of the characters
the protaginist is a revolving door jailbird in his late 20's named clifford P woods, who at the begining of the book ekes out a living busing tables, making book on high school football and selling dime bags of weed out of the bathroom window of his mom's trailer. he gets an unexpected come up when he blackmails a deputy police chief for 40 kilos of coke and $100,000.
these are some of the other characters
Damita Monique Johnson-----woody's son's mother, moody, loud abrasive, works sometimes as a waitress at "the harlem harlot" a strip club; bitches nags smokes weed and watches the young and the restless all the time
carlos munoz aka "la heffe"-----mexican drug cartel leader with extensive influence in Texas Politics and is a powerful business leader
Detective Aspinella Washington------ high ranking Dallas detective with a reputation for brutality, has been arresting woody since he was 15
ROsa Lynn Daniels----leader of a feminist organization called EWOC(empowering women of color), from the same neighborhood as woody but shows great distaste for "low class" culture and woody in particular after he obtains success......used as a pawn to try to bring woody down

Re: otis, you got competition!!!!!!!!
We are quite the bunch of budding authors!
I've written several short stories, many poems and a couple of songs (nothing published, ofcourse). My husbands been after me to try and get published for years, but everything I write feels so personal to me that I balk at sharing it with the general populace. I'd love to write a novel, that's my plan once my kids are grown...which will be about 12 more years...maybe I better start a little sooner.
One of my all time favorite books is 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. I would love to write something like that, something simple yet poignant and beautiful. "Every noble impulse, every unselfish expression of love; every brave suffering for the right; every surrender of self to something higher than self; every loyalty to an ideal; every unselfish devotion to principle; every helpfulness to humanity; every act of self-control; every fine courage of the soul, undefeated by pretense or policy, but by being, doing, and living of good for the very good’s sake—that is spirituality." -David O. McKay
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12
