Open Question: Is this one of the most Orwellian things you have ever heard?
From Yahoo Answers
India and China promote feminism to their people using soap operas scripted by psychologists in the US. For example: ""Hum Log" ("We People"), India's first long-running television soap opera. "Hum Log" was...designed to promote women's status in Indian society. ...Results indicated that... Viewers who were more aware of "Hum Log's" prosocial content had stronger beliefs in women s freedom of choice and family planning" Source: Brown & Cody (2006). Effects of a Prosocial Television Soap Opera in Promoting Women's Status. Human Communication Research, 18, 1, 114 – 144.These countries are required to do this by the UN as part of their obligation to promote Western values. Should viewers of these soaps be told that their favourite soaps have been designed to change their views and behaviour? Do you see a connection between this and extreme anti-male laws in India? The UN are promoting feminism like this all over the world. Example: the UN funds the Nicaraguan media group Puntos de Encuentros, who produce weekly soaps like 'We're Different, We're Equal'. Puntos de Encuentros uses "entertainment-education to promote its basic message of empowerment of youth and women"http://www.unfpa.org/upload/lib_pub_file/160_filename_bccprogbrief1.pdfAll sounds very cosy, doesn't it?Anti-male laws (also supported by the UN) in India http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle614140.eceA man can be jailed for a year for insulting a female relative. This law does not apply equally to women. This isn't an anti-male law?

When does 'education' and 'entertainment' become Propaganda?
I think it should be mentioned at the start of the program that a deliberate, State-sponsored message has been included. I think it should also be mentioned if any financial coercion was used to have the message included.
Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum
Love the Sinner but not the Sin.
(St. Augustine)
“ For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. “

(Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)
A Feminist is a human being who has lost her way and turned vicious.

offer kindness but keep your sword drawn.

It should be mentioned, but who can make those governments or the broadcasters they control do that? Maybe protesters could get such a concession in India, but not in China which is still a one-party dictatorship. A more likely to succeed route would be to expose and shame the American psychologists involved with this - if they are capable of shame. Even if they are not it might still cost them patients, and thus money.

Percy, aside your 'selective' gullibility, when exactly did you capitulate to state-sponsored despondency? The merging of popular culture with an influencing idea is as old as the formulation of democracies itself. Do you really think self-interested parties are going to add a moral disclaimer?

"Civilization can only revive when there shall come into being in a number of individuals a new tone of mind, independent of the prevalent one among the crowds, and in opposition to it- a tone of mind which will gradually win influence over the collective one, and in the end determine its character. Only an ethical movement can rescue us from barbarism, and the ethical comes into existence only in individuals."

""Nearly everything in the media...everything...is propaganda. Nothing is exactly what it seems""
that is the essence of propaganda - to make things seem what they are not
eg Al Gores fright crusade to convince folk that the water will be nigh be lapping at their backdoors unless they start paying an exorbitant carbon tax to the Gov't
this cartoon theme was exploited by the Fox and his ruse to convince the dumbcluck chickens that he wanted to eat that the sky was falling and the only refuge was in his cave
