Open Question: Has Feminism out lived it's time?

Open Question: Has Feminism out lived it's time?

    From Yahoo Answers
don't get me wrong i'm all for equal rights. i just think that women now use feminism to get more then equality like for example they want equal rights to make men and women equal but then they still demand chivalry that men lay down their coats over puddles open doors for the girl buy their movie ticket. now i ask you is that equality or women useing men.

This person came across as a well composed gentleman and asked a reasonable question in a respectful tone. I wish I could do the same most of the time, but I digress.

I didn't disagree with anything he said. Yes, there are some women who use feminism to get more than equality. They preach about being our equals but still demand chivalry. We know this from our daily lives. Is that equality or women using men?

I don't think it's equality because the minority who use feminism in this way do so to make me feel like I owe them something. I don't owe them anything. That is why I find it annoying. If I've learned anything it's this; equality germinates from mutual respect and until we can show this mutual respect for each other nothing will get better. Nothing will grow. This draws another question; the actions of feminism clearly show that they want more than equality and to play the 'oppression' card, is this why they fail to show a lack of mutual respect? Or do they feel they have something that is worth being annoyed about?

In that ramble I neglected to refer to the spiteful, childish comment.
    "Not in the gay world."

If there was ever a post for the ideological censors at Y.A. to target, this post is it. I sympathize with the premise of the question (feminism perpetuates anti-male double standards), but why are people on our side asking questions that are really statements? We need to tone it down a little, and ask more subtle questions that cause open-minded neutrals to think critically.

    I can't believe I didn't spot that.
