Open Question: To cut costs in UC education, should we fire dead weight that teach "women's studies" and "queer theory"?

    From Yahoo Answers
I have nothing against those two fields, I'm just saying that it would be wise that UC schools cut funding in areas that have little to no correlation to giving people careers. People interested in feminism and gay oppression could take a survey course in US History. I'm not entirely sure that our advances in "women's studies" and "queer theory" push us ahead of the learning curve that other countries would be jealous of

This is a very interesting question, one that most universities SHOULD be asking.

At the end of the day, what is the likelihood of a person doing one of these courses, actually achieving any real potential in the job-market?
    Or indeed meaning-ful employment?

    I mean,
I can agree with a person doing a course like Business Management or even Accounting.
    These are courses that matter.

But Womens Studies??, where exactly does one work, after doing a course like this?

If I as an employer, read that on someones CV, I would laugh heartily and file thier application, in the trash can.

Having qualifications is one thing, wasting your time at uni is another.

One other thing, Student Loans should not be wasted on fanciful stuff like this, we have Architects and Engineers that are kept out by the lack of funding, based upon the number of courses a University can hold in a given semester.
If you want to do "Womens Studies", get yourself a job and then go to night school, the tax-payer should not be propping up the Feminist agenda.

In order to force universities to cut costs, doing away with student loans would help - they're a way to let universities to jack up tuition rates up.

An interesting watch. This would force universities to do away with those classes, especially if the government would cut funding to the places where the idiots with these degrees get jobs.

    RV,
You don't need to tell me about Student Loans.
I have one myself, I've been an electrician for 19 years and I'm finally getting to the bottom of the loan.
A lot of people wonder why certain fields of work charge so much.
Back when I did my time, you paid fees of NZ$6800 per level of tuition.
    (4 levels)

Having a couple of apprentices myself these days, I understand just how expensive it is to get trained.
Sure, we like to help our staff along, but at the end of the day, it is the Government and the Tertiary education providers that have ramped up the fees and the interest paid on these loans.
In some cases these loans are like having a credit card.

The public sector through taxpayers monies will enthusiastically accomodate the holders of these useless degrees (social working, teaching, psychiatry, human resources, health, DV projects etc). In fact, many private companies, think tanks and charities (so-called), media through to shadowy and misandric organisations like the Fawcett Society.

It may not make any logical sense to you or I, but there's many job opportunities within companies that subscribe to feminist and politically correct doctrine (it also helps to sell products to an indoctrinated market).

How quickly we forget the lessons of the "Komic-Stars" (Political Commissars) of the old Soviet Evil Empire.

Kommissars - (also known as "invalids"- because they did no physical labor) were the Political Enforces of the Party Ideology / Thought Police, and led the Purges and Pogroms necessary to maintain 'Order'.

Like Womyn's Studies majors ot today, many claimed bogus 'Academic' credentials in such shams as Marxist / Leninist Revolutionary Dialectic and similar courses in Orwellian Newspeak / Doublethink.

However - they were the Real Power in the System, with the ability to Destroy Anyone (no matter how competent) for Failures of Ideological Purity (read Pandering to Evil Lies) - as these Invalids alone "Spoke for the Workers of the Party"...

(just like Dyke Misandrists are the only ones allowed to speak for 'All Womyn' - the rest being 'Dupes of the Patriarchy' incapable of consenting to heterosexual relations due to their oppression)

If the Party proved Incompetent in its design or direction - the Workers who followed it were not sent to Cyberia for making trucks with only three wheels - but rather for pointing out that this 'flaw' was the direct result of the Party Plan, as opposed to expressing socialist joy at the innovative results.

Academentia is producing our Own Komic Stars of the Thought Police - and Womyn's Studies is the foundation of the new controlling class...

Capable of nothing save Misandry, but needing nothing save State Sponsored Misandry to control the rest of the Proles - BAMN...

I also addressed this in another post found in :

It would be good to cut out these "dead-wood" courses with a chainsaw, but as you can imagine, it would not be without a lot of cries of patriarchal control over wimmin.

Oddly enough, the list of "vocations" that Celtic Druid posted above, all tend to exclude men, I mean, when was the last time you saw a male social worker or human resources "manager"?

Name a health system in any given country that the budget is blown out to millions, every year, and has been like that for the last 10-15 years.

Funding is one thing, actual expenditure is another, you are given a fixed amount every year, why can't these people operate within the parameters of that?

Simple, because wimmin hold the purse-strings in the health system, this could also be why most health care spending goes to female health.

However, don't get me started on actually working in a hospital under this system, that's a whole thread in itself.
