Those types do exist.. They usually have some serious mental health problems however that enable them to be unware of their duality!

So by and large women like to be with the "bad guys"? I think it's something that changes as women age.

Young women, let's say 15-28ish in this culture, go for the "bad boy" type often because it is exciting, it is a challenge, they like drama, they want to see if they can actually tame and control him. It's basically the case that 75%+ of the women in this age group are aiming for 20% or less of the male population. Those 20% men are getting laid left, right and centre with the current sexual mores of the young, because many more young women are now using casual sex as a way to lure these desirable bad boys more than was ever the case previously. A heck of a lot of competition is happening between young women for these highly desirable young men, and casual sex is one tool in the arsenal that women are using to compete with each other. So if you are a bad boy/alpha male type in your 20s today, you are getting laid to beat the band.

Of course, the situation changes when these highly desirable alpha-men settle on one partner and get married (most of them do get married). That leaves many women kind of ... stuck. The high in-demand bad boys and alpha males are now off the market, so the standards get adjusted and more women find themselves "settling" for different kinds of men. Many of these relationships end up failing, because at the end of the day, while the guy is very attracted to the woman, she just ... isn't that turned on by him, and wishes he were more the bad boy/alpha male type. So the sex dies down, affairs happen, and relationships crater. Most of the time, an affair can be avoided if there is good, regular sex happening inside the marriage -- most of the cases of men or women straying result from failures in marital intimacy. And I think these failures happen, largely, because the women, for one reason or another, become bored with the husbands. I think that the fantasy of the strong/bad boy/alpha male type who is also sensitive, caring, considerate, and helpful around the house is a very, very strong fantasy among women ... and that fantasy wreaks havoc on the expectations within marriages.

So yeah, we know women are attracted to bad boys/alpha males. I think that even though most women do not marry them (there are not enough of them for that to happen), many women remain attracted to them for their entire lives, and quietly live in some degree of contempt for the men they are with because they fail to live up to the fantasy of a caring/considerate/helpful strong/bad boy/alpha male.

I think much of this bad boy alpha male stuff is really a crock of poo and one of those myths..
