A day in the life of a taxi driver.

I was talking to a taxi driver who was taking me to the pub . We got to talking about "the wife" he told me that he took her out "christmas" shopping in the car. So used to getting out of the car on his own he momentarily forgot and walked off leaving her in the car. He of course went back and got some verbal abuse.Later he met a friend he had not seen for a while they started talking, and was 10 minutes late in meeting her she had arranged. He apologised saying he had lost track of time.
She told him she saw him standing talking to his friend (clearly he was not far from the meeting point)
She then said she was about to go up and thump him on the face but luckily for him he returned.
He laughed in a resigned way. I asked him how he coped with this . Just say yes dear he laughed. He said he let it wash over him and that its better to keep calm and not to respond.Bear in mind this guy is a taxi driver and was out working until around 1.45 a.m the night before taking his wife shopping.He told me a man had ordered a taxi and he arrived on time but the man decided to have a drink before he would go leaving the taxi driver waiting for several minutes. The man got in the car and started complaining about the meter being already at a few quid.Again the taxi driver said he got this sort of thing a lot.Its best not to engage with them he said let them rant you must remain calm.

If people could learn patience the world would be a much happier place.
