    men and poverty

I am unable to find anything on men and poverty when I do a search. Is anyone aware of an unbiased study or analysis on poverty that acknowledges the existence of mens poverty?? I dont buy this crap about only women being affected by poverty or affected by it to a greater degree than men.I cant find anything but biased fem propaganda that exaggerates the work women do and the poverty they suffer.Nothing about men.As with everything else, its seems men are completely ignored as poverty victims.

    .
search for homeless statistics, I think more than 90% of those are men.

There might be something already in the Facts and Figures subforum.

I typed "men living in poverty" on Yahoo! and didn't come up with much. But take a look at:

    Robert Rector "Poor Politics"

UNFPA State Of World Population 2002

It's tragic what feminism has done to this world. If I find anything else that's useful for you I'll let you know.

This is much more powerfull advocacy than any set of stats.

Ooftus Goofus, I'm just curious, will you be putting your research on men and poverty to a practical use?

If you are intending to write to a government minister or other official and highlight the issue, maybe some of the other members here would join you.

Speaking of the homeless.I remember reading on some blog about a man from sweden talking about a documentary on the homeless. He said the producers seemed to go out of their way to avoid talking about homeless men or even showing any on the street. He said the anti-male bias was so blatant and yet craftily done. They wanted to make sure that the viewer got the impression that only women are homeless. The statistics prove otherwise.Even the "homeless" woman they showed as a representive example wasnt actually homeless! What a joke.

Captain MRA,I hadnt thought about that. But making contact with some official party on the lack of attention to mens poverty would be a good idea.I`m not sure how to go about it.

I notice in your later post that you are in the USA, Ooftus Goofus. I am in the UK, so I don't really know a lot about who is who in the American political system, but other members here from the USA might be able to give you some advice if you consider bringing issues to the atention of a political party.

Yes those homeless stats are distrubing.
    Angryharry has some too.
That is mostly men living on the streets and you can't get any poorer than that.
    Exactly Billy.

Certainly when you talk about abject poverty, you'd describe homelessness as being the epitome of such a miserable position. And, no matter where you reside in the world, take a walk down your local skid row and observe the overwhelming majority of these dispossessed, are MEN.

There isn't a more obvious social indicator regarding poverty then what can be observed with the naked eye. Probably the vast majority of planet earth has observed this inescapable truth, yet, feminists would desperately try to convince people otherwise. Remember, it's a cardinal rule, men musn't ever be seen as suffering more than women. For feminists, this infringes on copyright protections (enforced and upheld by govt and media) that grants women sole 'perpetual' victim status.

Also, if you look at the gender breakdown in jobless figures right across the world, the majority consist of men! The much higher suicide rates amongst men are directly linked to this "unemployment-gap." When was the last time, if ever, you've heard of a woman committing suicide because she'd lost her job?

When biased organisations like the UN talk about millions of women existing on subsistence levels, certainly at least in the western world, they're talking primarily about single mothers who are living (choosing to be?) on welfare. So, as with the wage gap/glass ceiling "myth," a womans economic capacity is very much linked with the choices she makes or not. That is, like a man in the same position, she is the author of her own destiny.
