It's strange I understand what love is, or at lest what I think it is but I have never been in love before in my entire life, sure I have had a few lovers, but there was no love there, case in point my first girlfriend betryed me by sleeping with my real father, all she wanted was the cock meat and most of the few lovers I had were like her which made me swear off of women for a long time.

To me love is the willingness to edure any hardships for the sake of your loved one, husband/wife to see to there needs because they are will to do the same for you.

I used to be a christain, I'm not any more sad to say but one thing that that the Big G has tought me through his word is that husbands are to love their wives as Jesus loved the chruch which to me means that men loves their wives onto death and hell if need be and it is also said by the Son of God that wives are to love their husbands as they love them which to me means onto death and hell since husbands love them onto death and hell.

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that. It's a despicable thing to have done. I don't know how uncommon it is, though. The current wife of the president of France, Carla Bruni, did the reverse and left one of her long line of lovers for his married son, caused a divorce in that marriage, and then left him. Why on earth the president of France would ever marry such a creature is well beyond my understanding, and can only be described as perhaps the most public incidence of "thinking with one's dick".

It has a lot to do with it. When we fall in love there is an "in love" phase that fades away after a year or so. On an evolutionary level this makes sense. It is enough time to create offspring. But did neanderthales love?

The interesting question is, do we love? Looking at divorce and infidelity rates this is hard to believe. Love is overrated and actors and musicians who are singing about eternal love, or playing it, prove my point as well. Those are usually divorced multiple times.

So what comes after the "in love" time is over? In a way you get used to it. Beeing together then "only" depends on trust, attraction, respect and loyality. So you could say love is the fusion power at the beginning of a relationship which then gets replaced by other feelings.

To those who plan to get married these days, wait a long time and move together first. If all works out well, you might have sth that lasts for life.
