I got a mailing from something called the "National Council of Jewish Women", and man what an extremist organization!

They included a pre-paid envelope with their junk mail, so of course, you know what Annette did...

I sat down and wrote them a long letter, blasting them for claiming to speak for Jewish women.

They said in the mailing, "How would you feel as a Jewish woman, if your daughter was denied an abortion?" (YOU MEAN JUDAISM ALLOWS ABORTION? WHAT A SHOCKER!)

And, "How would you feel as a Jewish woman if your child was made to pray in school?" ("YOU MEAN JEWS DON'T PRAY? WOW, WHAT A SHOCKER!)

If there is ANYTHING I hate, its groups of militant Jewish-in-name-only females claiming to speak for me, not only because I am a woman, but also because I am a Jew!

The Jewish religion OPPOSES abortion-on-demand, only allowing it for extreme cases where the mother's life is in direct danger. But these "Jewish" women extremists are anti-religious, so how would they know that?

What I do when I get junk mail, is use the pre paid envelope to send junk back to them. One day I took some used toilet paper I wiped my ass with, and sent it back to them.

IronLady [it is incorrect to say] judaism forbids abortion unless for the mother's health. This is an utter life or a misunderstanding on your part. The Talmud completely allows for abortion even for the most frivolous reasons of inconvenience. Infact, several israeli chief rabbis generations ago have said abortions are allowed and that the fetus is not considered life therefore it's okay. You're incredibly deluded about your own religion, as jews typically are.

I was raised as an Orthodox Jew. Orthodox Jews are the most religiously observant of all Jews. I'm very well versed in the Jewish religion, Halacha, Torah, etc (but not Talmud as much since that is mostly a male domain.)

I am active in the pro-life movement, and there are a number of Orthodox Jews and rabbis involved in it. Each year at the March for Life in Washington, DC there is a contingent from Jews for Life and Traditional Morality, and Rabbi Yehuda Levin of Brooklyn, NY leads another group of Rabbis for Life.

I think what you mean are the NON-religious (non-Orthodox) Jews, many of whom are very pro-abortion. This is because they are woefully ignorant of Jewish law and teaching.

Within most religions there are 'interpretations' that favour whatever prejudice one wants to hold. It does not surprise me, Annette (GREAT to see you back, by the way) that there are leftist Jews and rightist ones, but it does surprise me that some Jewish women take such an anti-life position on abortion.

As a Christian I am just as angered by lacsidaisical Christians who support abortion on demand and I too listen to their spoutings of nonesense and anti-christian excuses for their own wishes with alarm at the general decline in 'life support'.

You are absolutely right to question the abrogation of other women's right to hold a pro-life position. Women's groups, feminist particularly, seem to 'take' the podium to speak for all women on almost any matter and ignore the clear fact that they speak only for their own warped views.
