Imagine this cartoon

Hi,

I can't draw cartoons so you'll have to use your imagination:

Picture one of those digging machines, with a long crane-like arm. A fat Andrea Dworkin-like feminist is sitting in the cabin operating the buttons and levers. Big grin. But the arm is not of steel, it's a gigantic arm of a policeman: the strong arm of the law. At the end is an enormous fist.

You can see the fist fall down upon a trembling male character who stands nailed to the ground looking up with horror.

All around you can see little piles: other men that have already been "beaten to a pulp" earlier.

Caption: guilty if charged.

Re: Imagine this cartoon

I wonder how many people see the danger of the 'guilty if charged' trend in the law systems.

Maybe some people comfort themselves with the idea that most women wouldn't make false accusations (which is probably true). But then again they don't have to. Just threatening with it is enough to make a man do whatever they want. The group of women willing to threaten is undoubtedly much larger.

But even if a woman doesn't make any threats at all, an increasing number of men will think twice before they upset a woman, not knowing what she might do. How is a man supposed to stand his ground in any conflict if he has automatic conviction hanging over his head like a sword of Damocles?

Re: Imagine this cartoon

Very disappointed that nobody has told me yet how brilliant I am. I'd like to see any of you create such a sharp and poignant mental cartoon. It's no small feat, I can assure you.

Ah well, Vincent wasn't recognized until he was dead either. Just don't think I'm going to cut off my ear for you.

No no, don't be silly!

I read the post a few days ago, and got so wrapped up visualizing the image you've portrayed that I forgot to post!

I think it may need a different, more captivating, caption though. Something to highlight the misandry ordinary men face... the preferential treatment women receive... etc.

Out of the gloom a voice spake unto me. 'Smile and be happy, Things could get worse."
So I smiled and was happy, and behold... Things did get worse.

My original idea was to let other people come up with a caption, but seeing that trying to get a response here is like pulling teeth, I decided to just explain the cartoon.

One of my main concerns with feminism is the possibility for women to use the strong arm of the law for their personal vindication. The idea of men having to prove their innocence, the reversal of the burden of evidence, scares the hell out of me.

In Holland this already is part of the labor laws. In case of sexual harassment the male employee has to prove it didn't happen. If people get used to the idea, it may also be applied to criminal law after a while. It's like a salami tactic: take one little step at the time.
