A woman was today branded "wicked" and a "skilful actress" as she was jailed for one year for making false rape allegations against her former husband.

Sally Henderson, 40, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice at the end of a week long trial in September, after claiming she had been the subject of a string of sex attacks.

Thankfully cases such as this are rare and it is our hope that the conviction and sentence of Ms Henderson does not discourage those who have been genuine victims of rape or sexual assault from reporting the matter to police.

It annoys me that a portion of that article was devoted to concern for the welfare of real rape victims when the issue at hand is false allegation and that the brunt of it's damage is born by innocent men. The article reinforces the disgusting myth that men are more likely to rape women than women are to lie about being raped. But the action of the court and police in putting this woman away are still commendable and point them in the right direction.
