I've just sent an email to a reasonably high-profile feminist journalist, asking her what she thinks about the men's movement. I'm hoping my email will inspire her to write a misandrous article on the subject, and thus raise the profile of the men's movement.

Okay, I've got a reply: Who are you and why are you asking? And which men's movement? This was my message: I've read quite a few of your articles on The Guardian website, and was wondering what your opinion is on the men's rights movement? Apparently, men's rights movement isn't self-explanatory. I'm struggling to think of a reply.

Sounds to me like she is playing ignorant with the intention of trying to belittle the men's movement as if it is insignificant to her. Naturally, this is nothing more than a little psychological warfare on her part. Do not entertain her by explaining it to her or even acknowledging her ignorance of it. Instead, take her reply with the pinch of salt it deserves. On the other hand, she asks "which" not "what". This indicates she she may actually be aware of the men's movement but sees it as a fragmented movement rather than the multi-bodied organism that it is. In other words, she may be asking "which part of the men's movement..." Either way, explain who you are and some of your favourite sites (this being a prime example as well as your own myspace entry). Invite her along to peruse the sites you offer at her convenience, keeping yourself as well mannered and factual as possible. Consider asking some important questions, e.g. why the double standard in anonymity of rape accusers while destroying a man's life by having his name plastered throughout the media or her stance on quotas (e.g. women say schools shouldn't have quota's to get more male tutors, but demand quotas in large companies - regardless of experience - in order to get more women into higher positions), naturally in a little more detail. Thumbs up for trying to gain the media's attention If she doesn't bother- which is likely- don't be too worried, because feminists have infiltrated the media as it is, and it's unlikely we will be given any attention Unless we are being demonised of course- LOL If I were you I'd show her a few men's sites and blogs to give her a 'feel' of the Men's Movement- or add 'Rights' in the middle if you want as well- just for extra clarity You may want to tell her of our general gripes with feminism and some of the core themes we often talk about I trust your judgement comrade- good on you for your determination here !! | ||||

How does this sound for a reply?: I am a men's rights activist who came across some of your articles on The Guardian's website, and read them with great interest(especially "I hate men"). The reason why I ask for your opinion on the men's rights movement, is because I'm interested to hear a feminist opinion on the movement. Some of the key issues of the men's movement include: Anonymity for men accused of rape, unless found guilty at subsequent trial. Harsher punishments for women who falsely accuse men of rape. More support and protection for male victims of domestic violence. A choice for men to opt out of fatherhood, should the mother of the child continue with the pregnancy against his wishes. Imposition of effective penalties for denial of child access.
