I am going to wind down contributing to the board. I might make the odd post from time to time and I might drop by to read, but my heart is heavy and I feel I am pissing into wind. I will go and sit with my steed who is enjoying the quiet of his paddock. He quit the last time he and I became so dejected, but I was persuaded to stay. I am again dejected.

I think this has the capacity to be a fine MRM site and can contribute to the raising of consciousness.

It could, that is. But the rot has set in.

But of late it has become a recepticle for adolescent filth and venomous mysogyny, especially toward some of our valued women members, that lacks any maturity or consideration.

Honourable men here are constantly villified and accused by yobs.

The game here has to be lifted considerably and I am becoming increasingly disenchanted by the descent into the gutter.

This seems to be coming from a small number of people, but as the regular contributors are only maybe 20 in number, it is a substantial proportion. They seem hell bent on discrediting the MRM, bringing it into disrepute with their banality, crassness and hostility. It is culpable negligence.

I have no ideas as to whether it is a deliberate strategy between these people (I am no conspiracy theorist) or just a reflection of a trend toward stupidity, but I like to think through matters, consider carefully what I write and read reasoned comments from others, not drivel.

But the drivel seems to have become a flood. Under the guise of 'humour', adolescent filth and the excusing of gross behaviours in men is seen in almost every thread.

Ironically, there is an undercurrent of misandry in the portrayals of men's behaviour, attitudes and values provided by some of the men here.

There is also far too much playing the man and not the ball.

They come, create havok, get banned and come back under different names. They promise to behave and do not.

I do not want to know these people.

I would not have them as my friends

They are too thick to be worthy enemies.

They lack self-discipline.

They do more damage to us than feminist trolls who occasionally come along and leave after being, thankfully briefly, smart-arse, and getting their ears boxed.

Such men are not simply useless in a group of men, but dangerous. They undermine what we want to tell about society and reinforce all the negative stereotypes.

How we can be seen as reasoned, mature, concerned men - and women -trying to alert people to misandry and the excesses of feminism with this going on? It is a fool's errand.

We were trying to educate, exchange information, spread information and ideas, critically analyse society's damage, but too many fools have spoiled the place.

Any visitors to this board who are awakening to men's issues and are genuinely interested in contributing, especially women and previously blind men who could be allies, ones who could be persuaded to the truth and reasonableness of the MRM, are likely to dismiss us as stupid. Because that is how we are appearing, increasingly.

Chose any ten threads at random and you find the same wreckers on nine spouting drivel and distracting discussion. Threads disintegrate. It is as though the mentality of the members just cannot stay on track for five minutes at a time, like three year olds. There is always some thick shit that drags even the best, most interesting threads down.

Some can barely put a sentence together and cannot write a coherent arguement before flopping, arms flailing, into some blindingly obvious informal fallacy, cognitive distortion or intellectual dishonesty that would grace any Feminazi tract.

When women come to the board, there is a fair and reasonable caution by all here, coupled with some measured encouragement from maybe four or five people. We have done well with several fine women who arrived here with shaky, feminist-embedded histories. But the usual suspects always put the boot in, regardless of the efforts that these woman give to understanding and even changing their inherited perceptions. Their valid female perspectives, which the MRM needs if it is to move forward, get thrashed. The boots are studded and crushing and seem to have no ears and eyes.

I have had enough, frankly. I am sick to the back teeth with some of the ignorant fools and I am wasting my time trying to keep my temper.

The MRM is being damaged and I do not want to be seen in the company of those doing it. This board is being damaged.

You, Karl, have done a magnificent job. You have worked so hard and so well, despite great personal turmoil to create a world-wide forum. But others are shitting all over it. They are shitting on the Men's Rights Movement.

I think this is bad news.

Percy has made great contributions here, and his example of principle and honour is worth emulating. Is he old-fashioned? Maybe, but in the "right" ways. Besides, he has paid his dues as a man, a citizen, a husband, a father - a lot more than many guys here. I value his opinions because they are backed up by experience, not just bluster.

It may be no comfort, but I find a lot of internet discussions tend to be dominated by younger people. No crime, but it is a reflection of the modern belief that age is meaningless and youthful vanity is good (it's not).

However things turn out, I wish you the best of luck Percy. You're a reminder of a time when men lived for more than their own egos.

I've realized that it is naive to assume that most members of this board are committed to making a change, and are instead committed to dreaming and musing about making a change. I've often felt frustrated about that fact. It does seem that discussion itself is elevated higher than activism, and even talk of activism is really just that.

As far as the content of the discussions, yes, it can get a little misogynistic in tone, and insofar as tone is important to the goals of activism I think you're right, Percy. A very few members will also get misogynistic in substance, and I lay the responsibility for that upon them but also upon those who set the policy for what is permitted to be discussed on this board.

As one that holds you in the greatest respect and admiration, I truly hope you change your mind, Percy. Your input on this forum is of immeasurable value. You bring great wisdom and insight and your presence will be sorely missed.

I understand that you need to do what you need to do. I understand that sometimes staying in an environment you find unsavory can leave you feeling tarnished by it's influence. Perhaps you should try stepping away for a bit so you can re-engergize and return...sometimes we just need a break a way. If not, know that this forum and many on it are better for having known you and that I'm proud to consider you a friend.

Your thoughtful contributions will be missed. However, the frequent criticism of other men whom you disagree with will not be missed. Nobody owns the Men's Movement. There are many good men who have differing perspectives on the best way to proceed. We will succeed when we figure out how to get a very large tent and welcome all men of good standing despite our disagreements and discussions on various points. May you return when you are at peace with all men of good will.

This is a place for everyone and unity may best be achieved when ONE QUICKLY ACHIEVABLE SIGNIFICANT GOAL is decided on, focused on and all the other petty crap put aside, ignored and actual efforts made to direct energies hard on that goal.

Suggestions always welcome.. Though when it comes to it, there seems to be a reluctance to mention what is wanted from some quarters..

This is not an official "MRM" site, nor is it a site with any axe to grind, its an open site with a theme of antimisandry, something I have to remind myself of regularly when I get deluded ideas it is perhaps something else.

If it ever progresses to real-life activism, all well and good, but for now, its a talking shop, a place to exchange ideas.

No one has to agree with everyone else, its a free for all.

Its good for us all to remind ourselves of that theme. Misandry is individual as well as collective. Bashing one, two, or three men is misandry as much as bashing all men. Bashing men is the antithesis of this site. If someone feels he needs to bash men, one, two, or all, perhaps another site would be a better place.
