I've heard of a technique still under development that basically boils down to a temporary, easily reversible vasectomy. Basically, they zap your tubes with some lasers (no knives) and you're good and sterile for a good 10 years or so. If within those 10 years you change your mind and decide to have a kid, you just schedule an appointment and get it reversed. It struck me as a WONDERFUL idea when I read about it in a college newspaper about a year or so ago. At that point, the procedure was still under development and was not approved by the FDA, or whomever approves of such things. About a week or so ago, the History Channel had a special on "7 ways the world could plausibly end" or something to that effect. Overall, it was silly show devoid of any real good insight. (Side note: the good stuff comes on History International... regular History channel blows. This show was regular History channel garbage. I don't miss a thing with my DVR...) After each doomsday scenario was illustrated, they'd show brief interview clips from 7 or so 20-something-year-old boneheads and Stephen Hawking. Three or four of the seven boneheads were women. Towards the end of this travesty of a documentary, the question was posed to the seven boneheads: "If we knew some time well in advance the precise date of the end of mankind, what would you wand to do or accomplish in the time before the end?" Or something to that effect... Every one of the female boneheads had the same reply: "I'd want to experience the miracle of childbirth before the end of the world." I began to twitch when I heard it the first time... I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Then I heard it again... and again.... These bitches would selfishly bring another life in the world only to live through a ****ING APOCOLYPSE just because they "wanted to know what it feels like." This hammered the point home for me... the need for male contraception is greater than I had imagined. Anyways... hope they get that laser working. I want to get ZAPPED!

Zapped with lasers....hmmm. I don't think I'd sign up for that anytime soon. I have heard of more promising, and more sensible, options coming out. Both are pills. One simply prevents ejaculation but not the orgasm. The other destroys "helpler" cells that create fully mature sperm. Last I heard, both are still under development.

I think pills or some kind of gell would be the best for male contraception. Injections, operations and such wouldn't make it popular or mainstream.

Typical, all too typical. As for getting zapped, I have no need of it as I am not (and don't ever plan to be) in a relationship of any kind. It's a wonderfull advance in birth control though.
