I am looking at it from a world competition POV. Some of these women moving up are not doing so out of financial need. They are giving up having family or else have a small one raised mostly by others.

See how the self actualization stuff is kinda the fuzzy stuff and way at the top? Well there are many companies located in other countries or the countries themselves that don't worry and fret so much about the top of the pyramid. Those countries will kick the butts of the other countries contemplating their belly button all day long.

I've been so creamed by what I went through (and don't ask me about the last few days where I was absent from these forums) that I am mostly worried about the first two levels of the pyramid.

LOL.... Yes, that's what they would like us to think, isn't it? In reality, most women were "prevented" from making their way to the top of their professions by the conviction that children need to be raised by their mothers.

Want proof? U.S. women in the 1930's and 1940's were MORE likely than the men to attend college. Just check the US census figures. Surely if they wanted most to become professionals, they would have. (And a few did.)

This particular myth is the bone feminists threw us housewives after trashing us. "Women had no choice before, and can't be blamed for lack of ambition, but now you're allowed to get a 'real' job, so go get one!"

But bear in mind that college used to be RARE. In the era you mentioned college grads were WAY rarer than today.
