I think he's gone again... His last blog posting said he tried to make a comeback, but it just fills him with such negative thoughts that he can't lead a fulfilling and productive life. Who knows...

FRED'S BACK!

He's never really left in my mind. Although he hasn't been personally posting for several months now (maybe a few sneaky peeks though ), his previous inspirational scribings have resonated strongly throughout his (hopefully temporary!) absence, as if he were still present.

Even for such righteous knights such as he, trying to confront such a overwhelming nefarious opposition without respite, nor sufficient numerical support, takes it's eventual weary toll. Hopefully with an ever increasing number of the unawakened becoming the "awakened" will alleviate the burden of some MRA's who try to undertake more of their expected? voluntary? share of such a thankless task.

Most of us as committed MRA's, have visited this darkest pit of despair and introspection. The question is, do we clamber back into the light, with a new vigorous determination, and commit to a revaluation of a more realistic 'controlled' contribution we'll make to the MRA movement - without unduly upsetting our overall balanced lifestyle. Or, let what ails us so, defeat us, and thus cast us back into the mire of futility.

Sometimes such an experience can forge a greater more tempered 'steely' determination within us. Unfortunately for many men there doesn't seem to be any concessional middle ground between this and completely dropping off the MRA radar. It's all or nothing for many men!

Within the MRA movement, particularly in the UK blogging sphere pertaining to Fred's impact, much is expected by the many of so few. My point is, rather than expecting other's to lead the way, and to be led (self sufficiency is a must!)? take up the baton yourself, and start up your own blog or website. From what I've read of members posts here, there's absolutely no reason why the vast majority shouldn't contribute accordingly in their own individual inimitable style. The quality displayed here will transcend any likely migration of ideas. I'm even pondering unleashing a blog myself on the unsuspecting masses.

Fred, when, or if you do decide to return in whatever contributive form, do so when it's right for you, and on your own 'sanity-retaining' terms. I'm very similar to you, that is, I don't do half measures, 100% or nothing.

And, only until we have resolved our own personal issues, can we effectively begin to change the concerns of others.

I just want to pick up on something said by John:

Now, when I first read that, I didn't know if there was a hint of sarcasm there or not. After the last misunderstanding, I am assuming it is the latter, as all MRA's, regardless of their current state of activity, have GOT to support each other.

I may return still, but, like I have stated, I'm just not ready yet.

I don't do half-arsed jobs, I either dedicate fully or not at all. When I was running on full steam I was gaining 800-1000 hits per day, every day, and a big reason for this was because I regularly updated (even to the point where I was physically knackered).

Right now, I'm not at that level, but, if I ever do make a proper return, I hope the strength of the MM will only continue.

In any case- I'm popping by here to see how the forum is going, and it seems to be running smoothly, so I am glad.

I think that's a good attitude, to dedicate fully or not at all. It's a tough job being an MRA after all - it takes a lot of energy. Unlike feminists, we don't have Governments and the UN doing work for us, either. It's us vs. a lot of men, most women, Government, Corporations..

I am inclined to think that because we have a smaller presence compared to feminists we need to work twice as hard as they do. But one has to keep it in perspective too... Burnout aint good...

I chatted with Zenpriest recently. He is also taking his leave, permanently it seems. He said that there's a danger of MRAs fighting for the rights of men and losing precious time of their own to actually live. Time is the one thing any man truly owns. We should do this stuff on the side; our lives should be spent going our own way first and foremost. I think Fred's just following that principle.
