Fishing- the great equaliser
Any of you guys here like to fish?
I get out when I can, but last weekend I hooked 3 red cod, 2 dog fish, 1 kawhai and a shark (7-giller).
They are in my freezer at the moment, all filleted ready to be eaten.
Good to get a few fish before the winter months down here.
I love fishing because it gives you a chance to get to the beach here (they are no good for swimming here, ( too cold and the sand is not golden like in a lot of places), but there is nothing like the feeling of sand and water on your bare feet after a week wearing steel-capped boots.
But most of all I like the peace and quiet and just the waves breaking on the shore, a few beers and whatever food takes my fancy.
Can you agree with this?

i even have a tan from the sun,ice and wind.
The fish are starting to group up for spawning in my area and the fishing can be phenomenal.

I love fishing especially for catfish. But I also enjoy fishing for Crawdads or Crayfish whichever one wants to call them.
I love the feeling of nature welcoming back to the wild.

Re: Fishing- the great equaliser
Damned good point, mate, that should read 7 giller (ie: has 7 gills).
Sorry about that, it was a late night last night.
Billy,
Fishing is a great oppurtunity for men to get together, I've had some interesting talks with mates of mine during a decent fishing session, and a lot of problems have been worked out as a result.
I'm heading out with a couple of friends this weekend, the fishing and weather is supposed to be pretty good.
Fishing is also a skill that should be kept alive down the generations, it goes back to when we had to get our own food to survive.Last edited by MikeT; 26th-March-2009 at 05:37 AM. Reason: Addendum
