Often feminists will claim that the film industry promotes (or pander's to men's) misogyny because an occasional woman is killed or tortured.

Today I was watching a film called 'The Hit List' in which a man pissed off with society rants to a stranger in a bar about everyone who has managed to piss him off in the last few days.

One by one, each one he named is popped off.

As the film unfolds, it's obviously hard to guess where it will lead... I kid you not, by 25 minutes, I'd got the whole plot sussed. At this point, the hit-man asks Allan (the pissed off guy) to name people - and he'll prove he's a hit-man. Allan doesn't believe him and fills it in, assuming nothing will come of it.

Uhoh!

By the time the film ended, my guess work proved right.

The list of 5 included 4 men and 1 woman. The four men would all die and the one woman would survive.

Oddly enough, by the end of the film - the four men had died and the one woman survived.
Remember: This is proof beyond reason that Hollywood promotes and bends to men's innate misogynistic values... apparently.

His wife is initially portrayed as a bad wife (sleeping with someone) - but oh gosh, it turns out she's really an angel and hadn't slept with the other dude.. Oh no, she was just trying to get his attention and faked the scene to look like they'd slept together. No, no - this isn't mental torture of a guy while he's already down on his luck, after being skipped for a promotion due to another evil man stealing his idea by an uncaring male boss and being beaten up by a loan-shark... No! This is a good woman, who just wanted her husband's attention - we can't possibly show women in a negative light.

So far, this is a most peculiar display of misogyny.


At the end of the film, a newscaster reports that 18 people have been confirmed dead by the hit-man of which 3 could not be identified. That is because the hit-man would purposely torture some of them.



So here's my body-count for the film: "The Hit List" based on gender (female deaths will be underscored and male deaths will be coloured for ease of reading)

1,2,3: documentary presenter and his 2 body guards

4: Allan's uncaring male boss / tortured (not seen, but mentioned by officers)

5: Allan's evil male colleague who stole his idea
6: a male cop doing his duty

7,8: two muscle men working for the loan-shark
9: a loan shark who gave him a black eye
10: one more muscle man who worked for the evil loan shark

11,12: two cops (male, naturally) who were protecting one of the people on the list.
13: the man he thought had slept with his wife (tortured, partially shown - kept alive for torturing until nearer the end of the film)

xx: several people (I only saw what seemed like male bodies (judging by size, clothing, etc.) on the floor after a blast, but it's possible that some women were involved) The two nearest people to the blast were both male officers... I'm presuming they're dead but will discount them to give benefit of the doubt

14: the main FBI agent tracking the rouge hit-man

15,16: two male cops
17,18: two male FBI agents
19: a cop named 'Taylor' who had to 'watch the hallway'

Now to list those hit with bullets:
1: a small grenade is thrown to where 'Williams' was hiding, He is then shot in the arm.
2: a cop in a white shirt is thrown across the room by the force of a shotgun being blasted at him.
3: a female cop is shot, also with the shotgun, and thrown across the room - torture = No.
4: male cop is shot with a submachine gun.
5: cop in sickly-yellow shirt also shot with machine gun.
6: bald police captain shot with machine gun.
7: another bald officer in plain clothes is shot (unless it was some weird shot where same guy got shot twice?)
8: tubby male officer who helps Allan & his wife escape is shot with the machine gun.
9: bald officer in uniform gunned down.
10: Allan's wife shot in the calf of her leg.
11: male cop with dreadlocks & dark cap shot
12: finally, the bad-GUY is shot, he's been tortured all along by a slow death induced by some toxic stuff from years ago - or something to that effect.

Note: All the above, unless otherwise stated were blasted with guns in the heart, torso or head - sometimes several locations using the double-tap method.

So you have it folks, evidence that Hollywood loves to see women suffer at the hands of men, and men love to see women suffering at the hands of other men... because contrary to ALL the above facts about this film, feminism insists that films love to torture women only.
