I wish this were a joke—but, unfortunately, it's not. It is, according to the notes at YouTube, "the true tale of a father denied the right to share the custody of his daughter" and "the first film of Dickson, TN-based William Fain productions."
Sounds awesome.A Father's Rights is based on the life of William Fain. He battles each day to bring an end to laws that take away a child's right to both parents. He wrote and produced this movie in order to show the inequality between parents created by certain laws and to hopefully inspire others to take up that same fight.
If you're unfamiliar with the patriarchal misogybag movement that functions under the innocuously-named "Fathers' Rights Movement," go visit The Countess for your 101, and then some. (Also swing by Sheelzebub's joint.) If you just want some quick hits about custody, this is your pitstop.
A word of warning to anyone considering the old "my cousin's best friend's brother's wife is a crazy bitch who won't let him see his kid and he's honestly a good guy I swear and his kid is dying to see him but she's totally a crazy bitch and did I mention she's a crazy bitch?" routine: Great. Good for him and shame on her, if it's true. But you don't need to educate anyone here that there are sometimes women who do bad things. The point is that there is an entire movement predicated on treating that as the norm, but reality does not bear that out. I wanted to comment, but the blackness of their souls started drowning me. It's. Just. So. Ugly.
Edit:
Ok. I took a deep breath and went back. Not too eloquent, but I feel better for having said something. Not that they'll hear it. It wasn't at SS ("SS" - isn't THAT interesting?), but at the feministe link.Last edited by KellyMac; 2nd-August-2008 at 06:34 PM. Reason: added

My comment number 72:
It is a fact, that here in the UK, where I live, that many men do not get to see their own children, due to the foul and disgusting attitude of their mother, the man`s ex-wife.
I hope that others will also leave a comment, particulary those who have had first hand experince in this issue.

Re: Feminists criticise "A father's rights" film
From John Dias' Movie: "A Father's Rights" article:
There is a movie that a father's rights advocate just created called, "A Father's Rights." The movie is very professionally made, with Hollywood-grade quality. The trailer alone is compelling drama, and it presents the perspective of the father favorably as he navigates the insanity of the family court and his abusive Ex. Based on the trailer, I would say that the acting is also superb, and the footage captures not just the political aspects surrounding the father's rights cause, but also the sexual dynamics between men and women. This movie appears to be spot-on. I am amazed that something of this quality is being produced by someone sympathetic to our underfunded movement. But for once, we have someone with a gift for cinematic story telling who has stuck out his neck and made a film that is worthy of our support.
The trailer is here:
http://g2rdistribution.com/afr.trailer.html
The Web site about the movie, where you can purchase the full video for only $15.00 USD, is here:
http://g2rdistribution.com/
We need to be blogging about this movie. I also believe it's worth every penny for each and every one of us to consider buying a copy. What an outstanding contribution to the father's movement.Subscribe to my accounts on DocStoc, Scribd, Twitter and YouTube.

This may interest you guys - from the News Review section of the UK Sunday Times newspaper.
An American columnist, of all people, has written a book which is causing uproar among the Feminazi Stormtroopers - and you may wll say, women generally.
"SAVE THE MALES : Why Men Matter - Why Women Should Care".
By Kathleen Parker, published in the United States of America by Random House, New York.
I never thought I would ever see an AMERICAN female suporting the male cause, American women having the reputation they have across the globe, closely followed by the British Sisterhood, of course.
A WOMAN actually telling the bloody truth about the Male Situation for once! Wow!

Re: Feminists criticise "A father's rights" film
Oh, they make me so angry. It's post after post ridiculing and mocking the movie. I don't care what they think of the acting, it's based upon a true story, but apparently a man being denied the ability to see his child is something to laugh about. Apparently, it's only worthwhile if it's happening to a woman. They joke and laugh about a man and child who's lives are being destroyed by his unstable ex with the aid of the court system....frickin' hilarious.
"Every noble impulse, every unselfish expression of love; every brave suffering for the right; every surrender of self to something higher than self; every loyalty to an ideal; every unselfish devotion to principle; every helpfulness to humanity; every act of self-control; every fine courage of the soul, undefeated by pretense or policy, but by being, doing, and living of good for the very good’s sake—that is spirituality." -David O. McKay

Re: Feminists criticise "A father's rights" film
There is another new film - 'Support System Down' out too, and being pushed hard by John Murtari who appears in it. John has been to jail several times and even on hunger strike in jail over his stance on father's rights.
John, an ex-NASA test pilot, has a son Domenic who was taken across the country to California against Orders which the law refuses to enforce. He pays his child support but deducts the air fares needed for him to visit his son. For this he is constantly taken to Court and jailed. He has also been jailed for chalking his quiet and respectful messages on pavements (sidewalks).
John is a pacific sort of chap, constantly encouraging his supporters to be pacific in their protests.
here is an email from John.
Good People & People of Faith,
There were a few questions and a concern regarding our recent message on the movie, "Support? SYSTEM DOWN" -- that message is archived at:
http://www.AKidsRight.Org/archive/archive2008/0021.html
Movie trailers: http://www.SupportTheMovie.Com/
Here are a few quick answers:
> I'm a bit concerned about a Movie that features a former President of
NOW (Karen DeCrow)?
Ms. DeCrow was president of NOW from 1974-1977. She disagrees with the bias of the present family court system and supports two parent involvement and shared parenting. You can go to Glenn Sack's website for a nice background article with info about her:
http://www.glennsacks.com/now_at_40.htm
> How do we set up for a local airing? What is needed?
You can just contact the producer, Mr. Angelo Lobo, directly by either email (info@SupportTheMovie.com) or toll free at 888-881-3118. Most theaters will allow you to rent their facility for a reasonable rate (and provide staff to take tickets, run the movie).
You set the ticket prices and keep whatever is made and arrange some sharing with the Producer. The Movie is on DVD and could be shown anywhere as a group fund-raiser, again, contact Angelo directly to work out details.
Angelo is a very nice guy and I'm sure he will follow up with and answer any questions you have.
> Are there to be any showings in California or is the movie available
for purchase?
There was a showing in California a few months ago which we announced on the list. We'll try to announce any other showings. It is not available on DVD yet for purchase. If you know of a group that wants to show the movie it's fairly easy to do (see above).
Best regards!
