Feminist "Psychology" (The Association for Women in Psychology)

So... I got an email from these people...well actually from an old college friend, who was telling me about her professional life and how she has special accredidation as a feminist psychologist. We haven't spoke in several years. I decided to explore the website at her recommendation.

AWP is a not-for-profit scientific and educational organization committed to encouraging feminist psychological research, theory, and activism. We are an organization with a history of affirming and celebrating differences, deepening challenges, and experiencing growth as feminists.

The mission statement said a lot. Just right there. It's fine that individuals want to research a particular thing. I have no problem with this. (I would really like to do/see more thorough research on gender development myself) But I have a problem with someone with an axe to grind in some form trying to do research in a field that is notoriously soft.

Their objectives are hilarious and scary(soul wrenchingly depressing scary):

1. Challenging unfounded assumptions about the psychological "natures" of women and men.

[LC: Ok, I can get this, but...]
2. Encouraging feminist psychological research on sex and gender.
[LC:.. it really isn't unbiased is it?]
3. Combating the oppression of women of color.

[LC: How is this even related to psychology? I advocate for men's rights but I'm not going to pretend that it's related to psychological research.

4. Developing a feminist model of psychotherapy.
[LC: What would this model of therapy include? What makes it better than say...Jungian or Freudian psychotherapy?]
5. Achieving equality for women within the profession of psychology and allied disciplines.

[LC: What? I know more female psychologists than male psychologists(though that may be a result of where I live) and they happen to be doing just as well as the men.]
6. Promoting unity among women of all races, ages, social classes, sexual orientations, physical abilities, and religions.
[LC: Again, this isn't even related to psychology]

7. Sensitizing the public and the profession to the psychological, social, political, and economic problems of women.

[LC: See above]
8. Helping women create individual sexual identities.
[LC: Fine, but I want to do this for men and women.]
9. Encouraging research on the issues of concern to women of color

I am forever amazed at feminism's parasitic behavior when it comes to racial issues, as well as many others-economics, enviromental issues etc. It is as if everything is all about feminism. But of course that is how they want it isn't it?

Actually I find blending gender and race interesting, it muddies things up sometimes, but some of it can be rather interesting (if you can separate what disadvantage comes from what, and then determine the multiplier effect, if there is one) Even if it is psychology

Also ANYTHING is better then freudian psychotherapy. If they were interested in doing a women's model (perhaps a method of psychotherapy that worked better regarding interactions with women, especially as a form of group therapy that would be interesting) id be down with that

You should join, and just shake the place up a bit.

It has it's flaws.(It's a bit funny to note that it really isn't practical to do everything as he suggested) But so does any other form of psychotherpay.

More like tribal witchdoctorism.

I may not know more about mid fuck for fun and profit but I do know that psychology is saposed to be neutral on all levels and not be infulanced by polptics, but then again it seems like everything it poltical in this day and age.

I mean was is the diffrance between femanazi mind fuckery and non femanazi mind fuckery?
I think the only diffreance is women's naracssim and ateention whoring, basicly femanazi mind fuckery is all about women and girls and to hell with men, at lest with non femanazi mind fuckery is that there is a few things for men all though I would not call them good.

My previous rolf apart, this is harsh and unjustified.

If a person gives a reason, it is not necessarily the only reason or the most pressing.

The issue was raised by the very person being condemned. It was raised to show the unfairness and bias. Don't shoot the messenger especially if you are going to miss and shoot your own foot.

This is not the first time. You must sit a lot.
