Re: Feminism for the mra..
Wendy MacElroy's iFem is arguably one of the most balanced and reasonable, well articulated sites in the MRM. And in the MRM it is, despite being 'feminist'.
Wendy recognises that the war is not between Men and Women, but of corrupt government, evil ideology and power. She is a constant fighter against lies and privilege.
She fights for the Women's corner well but also fights for the Men's corner. She is fair and reasoned. I may not agree with every tiny point she and her colleagues make, but overall I am glad she is on the same side. More power to her keyboard.

Re: Feminism for the mra..
The ifeminism idea was shown tome some time ago by an MRA who knew of my libertarian leanings..
However, I am not sure what there view is on the child support issue, which to me is a sure fire dividing line between those who look like allies and those who look like statists..
They certainly make the right noises about the "enforcement" of child support being all wrong..
Still, I cant ascertain from my brief views what they consider, or more to the point, who they comnsider responsible for the decisions..
Regarding their abrotion policies, they seem vague, but they sometimes refer to "contracts made when intercourse takes place".. which I guess is an interesting way of looking at it!

Re: Feminism for the mra..
No, no, no, and no!
The ifeminists should be called the ifeminazis in my opinion. They are trying to trick, lure, and manipulate us.
Feminism is a hate movement against men. What if there was a movement called the inazis that claimed not to hate Jews? What if there was a movement called the iKKK that claimed not to hate blacks? Would you believe them? I sure wouldn't.
I think that I'm going to have to get Masculist Man to give another explanation of what the situation is about the so-called "ifeminists". Because obviously certain people didn't hear it the first time.

Re: Feminism for the mra..
Many years ago when the web first got MRA's on board we had a realy good scrap with Wendy and the main issue concerning her need to remain under the "feminist" banner was a major point of contention. She refused point blank to remove the "feminist" tag and thereby lost a lot of credibility by doing so.
Just that association to that hated and detestible alignment to feminism as far as I am concerned does little to further her cause or the cause to Men's rights..
Many MRA's have continually stated that her site really has little relevance or is mostly biased towards women and what women want.
Not my cup of tea I am afraid.
A feminist is a feminist.

I gotta agree with Luke, the name alone is enough to turn me against it.
"iNazi" really is the best comparison. It's obscene. I'd also like to point out that Ms. McElroy condemned Darren Mack.Real men hate women

Re: Feminism for the mra..
maybe they should change the name from feminism, to feMENisim, that way you'd all feel more included

Re: Feminism for the mra..
From what I have gathered, the ifems are not as libertarian as they pretend to be..
It seems that while they make the right noises about the enforcement of child support laws being OTT, they seem to actually accept the concept of state enforced childsupport..

Re: Feminism for the mra..
I hear what you say Luke. Nevertheless Wendy has a consistent line which supports Men and not only consistently attacks the very intitutionalised misandry that we attack but does it much better than most MRAs. Just ask yourself which male MRA has managed to build an organisation within dozens of universities that attacks women's studies programs. She has done that and does the speaker rounds talking to young women who listen to her message which is pro-men.
By their fruits shall you know them.
How? Show me.They are trying to trick, lure, and manipulate us.
I think you are making an assertion that does not have evidence to support it. If they are trying to trick, lure and manipulate us, they are doing a piss poor job of it.
As for iFem having a nazi tag, remember this: the only serious attempt to kill Hitler was made by a group of Nazis. Were they bad? The Allies never specifically targetted him. Frankly, which ever way you look at that action, those guys weren't on Hitler's side and even if by the letter they weren't on ours, they were still considered heroic by the Allies.Last edited by Percy; 28th-December-2007 at 11:47 PM.
