Re: The female voice is grating
I think it depends on the female....

Re: The female voice is grating
It's true, screechy shrill and annoying in the main and childishly over enthusiastic, not that the male commentators and presenters are much better the dull northeast monotones of Cram and Foster bore me rigid, it's like listening to Mrs nivek's Hoover, and I wish John Invertwat would get abducted by aliens before he can completely ruin the next six nations tournament with his banal blather.
As for Hazel Irvine, Clare Balding and the super smug Gabby Yorath ....... where the fuck do they find these horendous cretins? and the woman they wheeled out to comment on the boxing....well nails down a blackboard don't begin to describe how horrible her noise hole is.
On the whole a great Olympics but thank fuck for the mute button.
Best commentators were Moorhouse and Jameson at the swimming (more like two mates having a chat down the pub, which I kinda liked) and best pundit Michael Johnson at the athletics, calm authoritative and looked continually bemused by the utter twaddle coming out of the mouths of Invertwat, Jackson and the ever irritating Denise Lewis. Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber. ~Plato

"Sexist"? How?Des Lynam has sparked controversy with some rather sexist comments about female commentators
Comment:
Bless you Penny. But you cared enough to post a comment, along with over 120 others!...and the male ego is such a withered, pathetic little thing when it's ignored for too long...eejit- no one cares about your opinion. Women AND men can both be rubbish at commentating or, equally, really good at it.- Penelope, Canberra Australia, 12/8/2012 9:07

LOL!
It's not nice to tell the truth about female commentators who genuinely sound like shit and were most likely shoehorned into their jobs to fill quotas!

Greed is for amateurs.
Knowledge without wisdom is a load of books on the back of an ass.
Scorn and mockery towards men in need is one of the reasons feminism is dying as we speak!.

100% with you on all these points, Nivek. The BBC execlled themselves in the oestrogen stakes by planting useless bimbo female commentators we had never seen before and hopefully will never see again, all over the Olympic sites, prattling on breathlessly about nothing in particular. The studios were also full of them, yapping about how these were the female Games and how women were outdoing the men in everything and showing them how to win medals. Of course it was easier for the women; they had far less to beat. And the end of the Olympics will at least bring one great relief: the end of microphone-wielding morons asking competitors "how does it feel to...(substitute any phrase from "win a gold medal" to "fall over and finish last"). Can't they think of anything else to say? Or do they assume we are all incapable of understanding how anyone would feel in that position? Oh, I forgot. Since these were the female Games, we must all get in our touch with our "feelings", and be reassured that they are exactly the same as the rest of the female population.

Another article from the Dopey Mail:
Olympics 2012: Go girls! How Team GB's amazing women would be seventh in the Olympic gold medal table if they competed on their own | Mail Online
What they failed to point out is that even without the women's contribution, 'Team GB' would still have finished third in the medal table. So GB could have saved themselves a whole pile of money by fielding a men-only team!
Anyhow, it is difficult to take the Dopey Mail's illiterate hacks seriously. Take a look at the medal table graphic: "seperate"?
And when I was at school, 14+8+9 equalled 31, not 30, and 10+5+5 equalled 20, not 19.
