Father's name must be on the birth certificate

The measure is part of an attempt to make it easier to track down irresponsible 'deadbeat dads' and involve both parents in raising the child.

Currently unmarried mothers can leave the father's name blank on birth certificates.

But Work and Pensions Secretary John Hutton believes having both parents' names registered will make the collection of child maintenance easier when disputes arise.

It will also give children the security of being formally acknowledged by both parents, he says.
Here is the rest.

Re: Father's name must be on the birth certificate

I think this is actually a positive move, provided that the name is not placed on the certificate without the alleged father's knowledge. If a man is named as the father, he then has an incentive to request a DNA test. A DNA test at the outset will determine paternity. If the man is not the father, he can walk away. This will have the effect of preventing paternity fraud.

Again, however, provided that names are not placed on birth certificates in absentia.

You wish, John.

'This also gives more rights to dads. If the mother has no good reason not to name him but just doesn't want to, then the father has the right to put his name put on the certificate.

Re: Father's name must be on the birth certificate

I definitely think that the father's name should be on children's birth certificates. It emphasizes that both the father and the mother are the rightful parents of that child, and not just the mother.

Re: Father's name must be on the birth certificate

Statist shite.. and fathers pay for it all!!

Mothers can play all sorts of silly games..

At the end of the day..

"Mothers baby.. fathers maybe.."

Will solve nothing at all, create more problems..

But that is the statist way..

Pretend to be solving problems you have already created and lo and behold, create more problems and continue using them to justify your parasitic existence on the backs of the population..

Luke, that's not the issue here. See the part I quoted above in my previous post and you'll see just how much they're doing this for the dads

They're doing this so the mother won't be able to leave the field blank. That's it, period.

Take a wild guess why they are so eager to do that...

A hint: best interest of the child, or god forbid - the father - is not the correct answer.

This move has only one objective.

And it goes by the acronym of:

C $ A

Out of the gloom a voice spake unto me. 'Smile and be happy, Things could get worse."
So I smiled and was happy, and behold... Things did get worse.

Re: Father's name must be on the birth certificate

The fact that this is an issue at all makes a very sad statement about society...

100% correct!!

I was going to say precisely the same thing..

What is it about the state of society though that has created this issue?

Its about the state being unable to pay for the choices it has given women in "empowering" them.. And the answer is as ever to be able to pin the blame on..

A MAN!!!

A name on a birth certificate does not make a man a biological father..

Re: Father's name must be on the birth certificate

Trust is destroyed by cheats. The more cheats there are, the less trust.

It is insufficient to invite a putative father to append his name to a birth certificate as he cannot be sure he is the father - and it is ridiculous to take the mother's word any more. A woman's word cannot be trusted simply because she is a woman and a mother. Proof is essential.

The father's name should be the Father's name, not just a husband's or a partner's. A DNA tst is the ONLY way to show who the father is.

Further, the common law impost on a husband, that he be the father to any child his wife has while in the marriage, needs to be completely scrapped.

Feminism has ruined marriage and child-raising. It is inevitable that new laws will have to be introduced to contend with the reality of women's propensity to decieve, and moreso as it is sanctioned and supported by destructive self-interested forces.
