The dumbest thing I have ever read

    This from the F Word:

Please distribute this list. Put it up in your place of work, in your university’s library or wherever you think theymight be read:
    1. Don’t put drugs in people’s drinks in order to control their behavior.
    2. When you see someone walking by themselves, leave them alone!
    3. If you pull over to help someone with car problems, remember not to assault them!
    4. NEVER open an unlocked door or window uninvited.
    5. If you are in an elevator and someone else gets in, DON’T ASSAULT THEM!
    6. Remember, people go to laundry to do their laundry, do not attempt to molest someone who is alone in a laundry room.
    7. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! If you are not able to stop yourself from assaulting people, ask a friend to stay with you while you are in public.
    8. Always be honest with people! Don’t pretend to be a caring friend in order to gain the trust of someone you want to assault. Consider telling them you plan to assault them. If you don’t communicate your intentions, the other person may take that as a sign that you do not plan to rape them.
    9. Don’t forget: you can’t have sex with someone unless they are awake!
    10. Carry a whistle! If you are worried you might assault someone “on accident” you can hand it to the person you are with, so they can blow it if you do.
this is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever read in my life

I do wonder about people who think up stuff like that, assault and rape seem to be an obsession to them. Maybe they need therapy .... certainly normal folk like us should be protected from them.

And they wonder why they're not taken seriously?

Most people would either rip these off the wall or draw a cock on it.

My, my... Kinda reminds me of the sign in the "Women's Resource Center" at my university, though my local feminists are a bit less specific... their sign goes like this:
    "steps to preventing rape
    1. Men should keep to well-lit areas
    2. Men should wear bells around their necks at all times
    3. Men should be accompanied by Protection officers
    4. Men should refrain from putting drugs in women's drinks
    5. Men should avoid attacking women
    REAL MEN DON'T RAPE"
Does anyone but me feel that signs like these ones (the one posted by rohara and the one I'm posting) are nothing but an attack against men?

That is precisely what they are. These little pamphlets and posters are nothing more than blame and shame tactic directed at ALL MEN. They presuppose that all men are inherently rapists and that they have to be conditioned or somehow instructed to not rape simply because it is in every man's nature.
Propaganda like this does nothing to prevent rape. Seriously, if you were a predatory papist would you really be saying to yourself: "golly gee I had better remember not to assault someone while they are doing their laundry." People who write these things aren't just man haters they are not connected to reality.

If I saw this kind of thing at work on in any public space I would throw a fit and rightfuly so.

I always carry a whistle with me.

I find it useful for blowing in the ears of those who are melodramatic in their self-proclaimed victimization.
